Unfortunately, I believe I placed too many personal expectations on this book, thinking it would be a high-intensity suspense novel, but I got an entirely different reading experience than anticipated. My own personal hype is absolutely a huge reason as to why I don't think I enjoyed this book to it's full potential. I think, had I been more aware of the actual plot of the book as opposed to just knowing "it's about a school shooting," I probably would have been more prepared to read it with an unbiased mind. Swifties Threaten To Boycott Netflix When 'Taylor Swift: The Reputation Stadium Tour' Is Removed Next Month: "Does Netflix Realize How Many People Are Going To Cancel Their Subscription?" This is a really hard one to review because on one hand, I think it is a fantastically written book that deserves all the praise, but on the other, it wasn't really for me and I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. So I'm settling in the middle with a good 4 star rating (5 for overall great writing, 3 for my personal reading experience) and hopefully I won't fail at explaining why I appreciate the genius of this book, but why it also wasn't that enjoyable for me. Riley and his friends are gearing up for their senior year by spending one last night hanging out in the woods, drinking a few beers, and playing Truth or Dare. But what starts out as a good time turns sinister when they find a mysterious pair of binoculars. Those who dare to look through them see strange visions, which they brush off as hallucinations. Why else would Riley see himself in bed with his best friend’s girlfriend—a girl he’s had a secret crush on for years?

One night after a rooftop party with her fellow holdouts, Ella finds a horrible scene awaiting her in her apartment. In a panic, she calls her neighbor Molly, who convinces her that the police won’t believe she’s innocent. Together the two women concoct a gruesome plan to hide the body down the building’s elevator shaft. Finally, I'm no Nicholas Sparks fan who wants every story tied up in a nice little bow, but the ending was a real drag. I saw it coming a mile away, for one thing, and the way Addie treated herself caused me to lose respect for her. The best that could do for readers is remind them of how important it is to pay attention to symptoms, but I was looking for a good read, not a depressing medical lesson.

Autumn finds a phone so Matt can call his sister, Claire. He pretends to be unharmed, but Autumn can see that he’s growing weaker from his gunshot wound and will probably die. SWAT officers empty the auditorium and round up the uninjured students, but despite Autumn’s desperate pleas for help they say that paramedics can’t enter the building until it’s secure. She’s forced to leave the auditorium and Matt stays on the phone with his distraught sister until he dies. Chris holds Claire as she sobs. One of the best short stories AND one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to this year. Marti, who I loved instantly thanks to both Howzell Hall’s gorgeous writing and Joneice Abbott-Pratt’s wonderful narration, is going through an extremely difficult divorce. She moves to the perfect LA house with a beautiful orange tree to make a new start....but it’s there that her nightmare begins. The laughter caught in her throat. It was as if he was there in front of her, face contorted with rage, body blown up and pumped for the fight. Wow! This is a superbly twisted and suspenseful psychological thriller. My jaw almost hit the floor after reading this one. I loved the complex characters and the strong plotline. Not only is this a fantastic thriller but it is a social commentary on activism. Eve Dolan is a brilliant writer and I look forward to reading more of her work. D'Alessandro, Anthony (June 8, 2017). "Forest Whitaker Joins Action-Thriller 'How It Ends' ". Deadline Hollywood. Did we miss something on diversity?

It’s a very topical book to read. Nearly every time you watch the news you see what type of things protesters are prepared to fight. All the mistrust of the police, the government and the media is all evident in real life and in this novel. The big events that are mentioned in the novel, one of which meant more to me than the others made it real and showed that are always going to be battles that affect some personally. I would highly recommend Jennifer Brown's "Hate List" instead of this narrative, because it actually took the time to responsibly develop and delve into the difficult issues within its respective events while giving dimensional characters the reader could care about even if the scenario itself was hard to watch and come to terms with. Plus, you could more easily identify the characters and their respective voices without necessarily feeling like you're hopping around.

THE BLURB: Ella Riordan is a community activist who became famous when she was beaten by police during a social protest. Now Ella is a squatter in a building where the owners are evicting tenants so they can convert it into luxury condos, and she’s determined to stay and defend the few holdout tenants, despite death threats. Grief is one big, gaping hole, isn’t it?“ I say quietly I don’t even know if he hears me, but my words are as much for myself as for him. "It’s everywhere and all consuming. Some days you think you can’t go on because the only thing waiting for you is more despair. Some days you don’t want to go on because it’s easier to give up than to get hurt again.” Once again, Eva has blown me away with this contemporary and eloquent piece of modern-day crime fiction. We learn the story of Ella and Molly who are both activists. Ella is a young, ambitious and very creative with her blog. She’s hoping she can put a lot of input and energy into their campaign and impress Molly, the senior, most seasoned part of the group.

A heartbreaking love story, set against the dramatic backdrop of Obama's election and the global financial crisis.

I’m not going to go into how they both become involved with a body in a lift shaft. I’ll leave that for your own pleasure as it helps build the story.

Hugh is eccentric to the point of NOT wanting anything to do with the American cousin and strangely enough only gets to meet him at Christmas time, well after Addie and Bruno have fallen into each others arms. Documentaries and articles on the subject of school shootings often reveal that the shooters were bullied, victimized or simply unloved and ignored. They are usually consumed by sadness and anger that eventually explodes. This is quite a simplistic explanation and yet Tyler isn't even offered that. He is simply an evil shooter. It makes me feel very sad that he isn't given more humanity. There’s plenty to mull over in this novel and plenty to feel your blood boil over as well. Ultimately, no matter what my thoughts about Ella eventuated into, there can be no doubts as to the origin of her anger and it’s justification. We have come so far, yet we still have such a long way to go. Stream It Or Skip It: ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ on Apple TV+, a Charming and Typically Tearjerking Adaptation of the Classic Children's Book The shooter is evil and bad. Has been evil and bad, and will have grown up to be more evil and bad had he have gotten away and lived.

None stop description all the way through, there is just no need for it, the most mundane things were explained in detail..... honestly I don't care get on with the story. The story opens as Ella calls Molly to help her as having attended a party and finds herself with a dead man. While this is indeed a love story, it is not a traditional one. Our hero, Bruno is fifty years old, has two failed marriages behind him and has recently lost his job. Unable to face the upcoming elections – Obama vs. McCain - in America, he decides to travel to Ireland and research his family’s roots. Parfitt, Orlando (January 22, 2018).
