In a nutshell, turning off the heating to a room does not affect the power output of radiators in adjoining rooms. One or two people on my YouTube community platform have said they wish it communicated over wifi, but Drayton kept communication off wifi deliberately because if your wifi goes down, the system keeps functioning.

There is a chance that the dining room gets over heated, but given the way the house works, this doesn’t actually happen. The beauty of the room-zoned controls is that you can target the temperature settings if each room precisely based on your regular movements through the house but still easily override when you need too. and they are often like some sort of pebble with no corners I find it all pretty weak think it will date and become irritating like say. so if by setting a TRV to 20 degrees and a thermostat in a non-TRV area to 14 degrees that area may get to over 14 degrees before the TRV gets to 20I'm not sure how I "tell" the hub that the thermostat exists.

Building on the iconic design of the Drayton TRV4, the Wiser Radiator Thermostat maintains the simplistic style and builds on years of success as a leading TRV manufacturer with a host of additional features. There’s a third function for smart plugs that few know about at the moment, and that’s energy monitoring through Insights + - more on which in a minute.

As Dan at Drayton pointed out to me, even Opentherm has its disadvantages as by operating the boiler at lower power it’s going to take longer to get up to temp albeit when it’s there, it will maintain a much more consistent temperature . Standard TRVs commonly have numbers 1-6 - the number 3 is about 20degC - but most people do not know that and turn them up higher. So, it’s almost impossible to say how much flow you’re allowed by making a half turn or a couple of turns on the valve. I wanted to quickly talk about updates, because Drayton have always had a reputation for listening to user feedback and acting on it, and they’ve brought out two reasonably chunky updates this year.

Locating the thermostat in a warm space, such as the kitchen, risks it turning off early because for example the cooker or tumble dryer is on and this has warmed up the room. if its an evening time, the living room wants to be 21C, the bedrooms can be left off as with the kitchen and bathroom (kitchen normally warmed by oven being on). It has up to six daily programmable settings, is voice (through Alexa and Google Home) and remote controlled. If all TRV's are set to 20 degrees and I set the main "house" wireless stat to 22 degrees, should that overide the TRV settings (20 degrees) so that the radiators can pump out more heat, otherwise surely it would be impossible to raise the "home" stat temperature reading past the lower TRV setting? My set up has TRVs on every rad in the house, other than the dining room/kitchen which has standard valves. Unless you live in a small dwelling, take the plunge, you will not lose money and very likely make savings that eclipse the initial investment in a couple of heating seasons. Some of the system radiators use generic 32mm TRV bodies and old Myson 28mm TRV's with third party metal adapters, they all work perfectly.
