Locomotion – The National Railway Museum at Shildon is hosting an exhibition of the Durham Photography Societies’ work. Members of Durham Photographic Society have mounted this exhibition celebrating the North East’s unique place in the history of the steam railway which was a driving force in the expansion of the Industrial Revolution in the early 19th century. Many of the photographs have been shot in and around Locomotion and at other North East railway sites such as Tanfield Railway, Beamish Museum, Bowes Railway and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and some of them out on the mainline. The exhibition runs until the 12th of February and prints will be available to purchase through the museum shop. Free admission & free parking. The museum reserves the right to change the programme.

The London Model Engineering Exhibition will return to the iconic venue of Alexandra Palace for the 2017 event, its 21st Anniversary. This exhibition is the showcase exhibition for the south & attracts over 14,000 visitors annually.

Imagine the excitement of a Steam Train journey to Santaland! Our magical Santa Special services run on various dates and times in the weeks before Christmas, details of which are below. They depart from Sheringham station and take passengers through some of Norfolk’s most beautiful winter scenery whilst the adults are served sherry and mince pies, children receive a chocolate and a soft drink. Santa is waiting by his open fire at Weybourne Station (specially transformed into Santaland!), ready to give all children a warm welcome, both young and old. Each infant (under 1 year) and child (1 year to 14 years) will receive an appropriate present for their age. After a period of time looking around the station, passengers reboard the train for their journey back to Sheringham. Organised by the North East Rover Owners Club. A range of classic and vintage offroad vehicles displayed on our outdoor events space. The event has free admission and free parking, and will be open from 10am to 4pm. The museum reserves the right to change the programme.

The Somerset Vintage & Classic Tractor show is an annual event at the Royal Bath & West Showground. Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th January 2017. A great event for enthusiasts of vintage and classic tractors. This year there will be about 200 tractors on display ranging from early models, built from about 1920 up to the latest models we see farmers use today. There will be trade stands, with 1000’s of tractor spares, books and model tractors and toys etc. for sale. Once again Wiltshire College Lackham and Bicton College, Devon will be competing in the tractor rebuild – to see which college team can rebuild a Ferguson tractor the quickest Special Feature for 2017:  100 Years of Ford & Fordsons The popular auction of vintage and classic tractors, implements, engines and related items will be held on Saturday 28th January, by HJ Pugh & Co., Ledbury, call 01531 631122 or visit www.hjpugh.com for further details.
