Description

Decide on a currency for your game. You might want to play using poker chips or ten-cent coins, for example. These will be used to build up the “pot” during the game. The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game has been around a while, having been on the market since 1987. It was one of the first board games I ever played, and nearly caused my uncle and aunt to divorce while arguing over the rules during one memorable Christmas. Deal the cards, one to each player, till all are dealt evenly. Put any remainders in the discard pile till the next round.

Betting Gods Malta Ltd, Level 6, St Julian's Business Centre, Elia Zammit Street, St Julian’s, STJ 3153, MALTAAcross the Board Horse Racing features a stunning handmade design with a real wooden board. You can choose whether you would like walnut or maple wood, the latter of which is much darker. The game itself doesn’t require any existing knowledge of horse racing, and it’s absolutely possible to play and enjoy Across the Board Horse Racing as a complete newcomer to the sport. The aim of the game is to be the player with the most money, or chips, at the end. There are eight rounds, each of which follows the same structure. The cards that a player has in their hand and the numbers that they roll on the die determine their fate. Winner’s Circle makes the list of the best racing board games because it is horse racing at it’s finest. Here you will need to bet on seven different horses over three races to see who can make the most money via an exciting dice confrontation. However, the game isn’t suitable for children under three years old due to small components presenting a choking hazard.

The game manufacturer doesn’t provide any guidelines about what age group it is for, but it’s agreed within the gaming community that Across the Board is pretty much universally enjoyable.

The game ends when either: 1) one player has with all the money; or 2) players decide to stop playing. In that instance, the player with the most money is the winner. The numbers on the dice should be added together, and the total tells you which horse is going to be scratched. Though simple, this is one of those games that you immediately want to play again after you’ve finished just to relive the sheer excitement of it. A Brief Introduction to Horse Racing To the bottom row (worth 20 cents), move the horse that matches the total on the dice. (For example, if the dice total 8, move the #8 horse to the bottom, – or 20-cent – scratch position.) Roll and do the same for the next row from the bottom (the 15-cent scratch position), then 10-cent, then 5-cent scratch.
