We should also get a glimpse of the LEGO City, Harry Potter and LEGO Friends Advent calendars soon! Theme: LEGO Marvel Set name: 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar Release: September 1, 2022 Now this is more like it! On Day 17, we finally get something festive AND related to GOTG – a snowman wearing Thanos armour! It’s a clever twist on the way Thanos hangs up his armour on a scarecrow, when he retire to the farm after snapping half the universe’s life away. It’s one of the most creative Advent Calendar Christmas trees yet, and it pairs remarkably well with Groot, who’s, well, a sentient tree. It also fits the scene from the GOTG Holiday special where Groot serves as a Christmas Tree, so this is both accurate and festive all at the same time.

Day 11 is a nice nod to these historical LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets, but their simplistic designs does leave much to be desired. At least we got 2 of them in one window, and I’m glad they weren’t stretched out across 2 days, which would’ve been tragic. Before you read on, this review will include spoilers for the upcoming LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Advent Calendar. I won’t be revealing which builds appear on which days but it will feature each of the 24 buildable items you’ll find in the Advent Calendar. If you prefer to be completely surprised on December 1st, I advise you don’t read on any further. This margic Marvel Advent calendar is the perfect pre-Christmas gift for youngsters with 6 superhero figures Kids can mix the gifts to recreate their favourite scenes from the Marvel movies, imagine new adventures or combine with other LEGO Marvel setsHere’s the front of the Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar, which folds out to form a playmat of sorts to display all the mini builds. And that’s it for the Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar! To be honest, I’m mostly disappointed by the Calendar, mostly because of strings of forgettable days and builds, with items that were a stretch to connect to Christmas, the Guardians of the Galaxy or even the Holiday Special. This year, we have a special twist with the Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar, which is a direct tie-in to the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which is now streaming on Disney+

Day 13 of the LEGO GOTG Advent Calendar begins to try and make amends for the last few days with a Mantis minifigure! On Day 2 of the GOTG Advent Calendar, we get some gifts for Star-Lord, a wrapped present and a new walkman as well! The minifigure is the same as the one found in 76913 The Guardians’ Ship, and also comes with a blue (dark azure) Fender Stratocaster-esque electric guitar.I really hope Day 13 improves, as this has been a really hit and miss Advent Calendar, with more misses than hits! Build up to Christmas with the LEGO® Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar! Open a different door each day of December to discover a surprise gift. There are 6 minifigures waiting to be revealed, plus mini builds and accessories. As the big day approaches, bring the gifts together to recreate favourite scenes and Marvel adventures of your own. We’re here on the final day, and to close us off, we have an exclusive Christmas Sweater Drax pop out of Day 24’s window! Despite multiple days combined into one model and a missing team member, the level of thought and the many references in 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar make it great value, as long as you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans of Marvel comics might have preferred a mix of other heroes outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy, though to be fair the name of the set makes it very clear that this isn’t going to be the case over the 24 days. The Star Wars Advent Calendar ( see it at Walmart) is mostly spacecraft and droid builds from the movies. My favorite was a miniature AT-ST Walker, which the designers depicted in perfect minimalist fashion. I loved the Advanced TIE Fighter, which again captured the key design elements of the build in a very spare, suggestive manner. And in terms of Christmas-themed accessories, you cannot get cuter than R2-D2 in a Christmas sweater.

That initial attempt at a LEGO Marvel advent calendar covered a wide array of characters both cosmic and street-level, but this time the focus is solely on the Guardians of the Galaxy to tie in with their upcoming holiday special, which streams on Disney+ later in 2022. The design team behind 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar understood the brief, filling the doors with references to the team’s Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures and the usual seasonal models. Here’s a look at the 2022 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, which looks to incorporate characters and scenes from the upcoming LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation Disney+ animated special.

Why you should trust us

Despite giving a daily recap of each of the LEGO® Advent Calendars for the last few years, I’ve never actually reviewed one, until now. Last year, the long-running LEGO Advent Calendars range expanded to include a Marvel-themed one. It was focused on the Avengers and featured a mix of minibuilds and minifigures inspired by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. This year’s offer is a little more intergalactic and is inspired by the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Disney+ Holiday Special. The exact story of this small screen spin-off is currently unknown but it’s safe to assume it will be at least a little festive.
