1st & 2nd January 2017 (10am – 5pm) One of Britain’s largest restored pumping stations in steam. Lots of children’s activities. Twenty nine stationary steam engines. Four large beam engines two in operation. This magnificent site was built in 1885 to pump the brewery effluent of Burton-on-Trent to a Sewage Farm for treatment. In 1900 a large steam driven workshop and forge were built here by the local council and this still working workshop is something really special. It also has Britain’s oldest working electrical generator which also came here in 1900 to produce the new fangled electricity. There really is a steam engine round every corner and it’s a steam buffs Mecca. It also provides a great Family Fun Day Out Steaming Days (10:00am – 5:00pm) New Year: Jan 1st, 2nd February: Feb 26th Easter: Apr 16th, 17th May Bank Holiday: Apr 30th, May 1st Spring Bank Holiday: May 28th, 29th August Bank Holiday: Aug 27th, 28th September: Sep 23rd, 24th October: Oct 28th, 29th Admission prices on Steaming Days: Adults £6 Concessions £5 Children £3 Family £15 Admission on all other days is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
