It pays homage to the timeless designs of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s while also showing its own contemporary style. The Version 4 comes in at 42mm, which is large for a dress watch but still not oversized compared to watches on the market today. My main issue with the Bambino – both Gen 1 and 2, and many other dress watches for that matter – is the size. Version 2 has Roman Numerals for the hour markings and train-track chapter rings around the outside. For me personally – and only because I’ve bought and sold multiple at this point – it’s going to be a cut.

The Bambino will look great on a wide variety of leather straps, from basic leathers to exotic leathers like crocodile and ostrich. With it’s water resistance rating, you should be fine with hand washing and possibly getting caught in the rain.
My favorite watch is my Jazzmaster Auto Chrono, and the watch I wear the most is my Weekender Chronograph.

On the Leo I noted that the watch case and dial both seemed well built, but the strap didn’t convey a real quality feel (and it was awkwardly shaped at the lugs). I’ve always found Orient very versatile – they look great on leather as a dress watch, but also tend to dress down fairly well on a NATO. Finally, the dial is a combination of applied elements (the Orient logo and hour markers) and printed elements (company branding and the outer rim). This characteristic makes it a great starter watch for beginners who haven’t nailed down the exact size of watch they want on their wrist. In regards to the AF, I agree AF is some much more likely to be clarifying it is an automatic, and not the less professional version.With a simple, classic look, the watch can also successfully be dressed down with fabric or textured straps, but avoid NATOs, rubber or silicone. I remember being a recent graduate and being stressed on what to wear and how to present myself as I went on job interviews. It’s attractive, but my preference still lends itself to the V2, which looks smaller on the wrist (despite being the same size).

I was very eager to see for myself what side of that love/hate fence I would land on after spending time with one from the iconic Japanese brand. It isn’t as soft as it could be, feeling about as good as the strap on the Stuhrling Original Delphi Acheron. The main differentiator here is that the designs across Timex feel very grounded and much more subtle with how they approach their aesthetics. The popular Orient Bambino dress watch features a simple, clean and elegant design, which is loved throughout the world.Version 5 (new in 2018) changes up the dial design quite a bit, introducing a new font and a different look, almost a different vibe. Once you’re comfortable with the strap you have, you can branch out and become a bit more daring and be confident the Bambino will still look good.
