The landscape of the Fens is unique, intriguing and curiously beautiful. And maintained by an incredible network of drainage systems and pumping stations, without which this fascinating landscape would disappear under the waves.

Prickwillow Museum, a registered educational charity, tells the story of the drainage of the Fens, the history of the local area, and those doughty individuals who ran the drainage pumps in remote locations. The museum showcases some of the region’s finest examples of restored diesel engines.

Within easy reach of Ely, with a spacious café, plus attractive walks nearby, a visit to Prickwillow Museum promises a great day out in rural Cambridgeshire.

Whether you are interested in engineering, history, or looking for a family day out with a difference, Prickwillow Museum will not disappoint!

Opening times

The Museum is now closed for the winter (with the exception of our Christmas Special! event).

During 2017, the Museum will be open from Easter Saturday (15th April) until Sunday October 8th.

We are open on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 12.00 to 16.00.

Tuesdays are usually work-days for our volunteer engineers so why not visit then to watch and talk to them!

Group visits are welcome at any time, by arrangement with the Museum.
