1st & 2nd January 2017 (10am – 5pm) One of Britain’s largest restored pumping stations in steam. Lots of children’s activities. Twenty nine stationary steam engines. Four large beam engines two in operation. This magnificent site was built in 1885 to pump the brewery effluent of Burton-on-Trent to a Sewage Farm for treatment. In 1900 a large steam driven workshop and forge were built here by the local council and this still working workshop is something really special. It also has Britain’s oldest working electrical generator which also came here in 1900 to produce the new fangled electricity.
