Also, when people say they match evidence players are looking for and say a number value, they may of course be planning to show you false evidence, or evidence you have seen before. Should I play my ability cards to give myself an edge, thereby revealing that card, or lie to my rivals but risk losing that card to one of their wildcards on their turn? At this point, the leading player can play one false evidence card if they choose, and then play moves to the right. Loved this Keith Haring toy, it engrossed my 4 year old just as much as it fascinated me - hours of fun, and it looks so good too. Some more expansive titles even require multiple ‘practice’ or ‘open-hand’ sessions to parse everything.

Based on the hit podcast of the same name, this seedy, self-branded “strategy game” Case File Truth and Deception (it is certainly not, your first clue that this was developed by people who fundamentally don’t understand the concepts they’re working with right out of the gate) sees players take on the role of detectives attempting to solve a murder mystery, exchanging evidence in shady deals and pulling the wool over their rivals’ eyes, bribing and lying to one another in equal measure to uncover the truth. Or maybe, you could even have to give up your case tracker, and swap this with all your notes so far with another player. I’ve played the requisite rounds of Monopoly which have dragged to the point of family blowouts and beyond. While everyone else is watching the latest will-they-won’t-they comedy series, you’re binging true crime, aren’t you. When the game starts players can look at the cards they have been dealt and can mark these off in their case tracker, as they are holding the cards, they clearly can’t be part of the solution. You must be over 18, a resident of the country offering Afterpay, and meeting additional eligibility criteria to qualify. Adding fun and clever card play with the False Evidence cards which really do mix up the game quite a bit.

There is a small amount of flavour text on the evidence cards too, which is a nice touch, although largely irrelevant. In this mystery board game based on the hit true crime podcast Casefile, delve into the case of the murdered Casey Parker and be the first to solve it. Remember, this is a game of deception and one of the players may plant false evidence to throw you and the other detectives off track. With 44 cards, there are near infinite possibilities so you can solve a different crime again and again.

Contents: 1 Casefile Gameboard, 4 Case Trackers, 4 Dry-Erase Markers, 44 Cards, 1 Deception Die, 1 Confidential Folder, and Complete Instructions. Each player is given their investigation board (where they will tick off items of interest as they narrow down the evidence) and draws five cards.
