Not much is known of the Chapter's combat doctrines, although by all accounts the Guardians of the Covenant seem to be a Chapter that shows a great deal more care for the common citizens under its protection than its parent Chapter. This covenant originated with Abraham, who lived in a time of total apostasy. Yet he and his wife Sarah stayed that tide by being the instruments through which the Lord established his royal family—a new race—through which the sceptre of God’s power, his royal priesthood, would be perpetuated to the end of time. Nonetheless, several items of Power Armour belonging to battle-brothers from the Guardians of the Covenant that have taken the Apocryphon Oath lie unclaimed in dusty niches of the Hall of Glory in Watch Fortress Erioch, their owners having fallen in battle whilst serving the Deathwatch. From the time the Lord promised Abraham seed, Sarah quite justifiably would expect the promise to be fulfilled through her. This promise sustained her until after she was past the age of childbearing. Then, with her heart breaking, she bowed to the will of the Lord and relinquished all hope of ever having a child of her own. This most cherished desire of her heart she laid upon the altar of her faith, and she suggested to Abraham that another might be the mother of his promised heir. I always saw the GOTC being extremely religious and devout. Certain aspects of what is written makes them seem like its all for show and they are not in fact the monks one percieves them to be. I guess it is the way it is worded about the Imperial Creed. It makes them almost renegade in a sense and no respect for the Imperium at all. Just the feeling I got.

Cloaks and hoods are worn by all ranks, but the Veteran Guardians of the Covenant and the Chapter's Inner Circle are most commonly seen wearing the crimson cloth, because they have learned enough about the Dark Angels Legion's history, and thus their shame, prior to obtaining their rank within the Chapter. In addition to their monastic mentality, the Guardians have also been affected by the institutions of learning and the large number of scholars who live on Mortikah VII to take advantage of its repositories of Lore, both restricted and un-restricted. Indeed, Mortikah VII is home to one of the most renowned Scholams in the sector with regards Psychic and Anthropological studies. He wore an olive-colored robe, dark pillbox turban and sandals. He glanced warily at me with deep-set eyes. Through the bars he held out a wooden cross painted yellow, touching my forehead with it in a blessing and pausing as I kissed the top and bottom in the traditional way.Their first, and most telling trial, came in the form of the Age of Apostacy. Escaping early disruption of warp travel, the Chapter was able to respond when the populations of several nearby worlds began persecuting the local priesthood. By the time that the difficulties plaguing warp travel isolated the Guardians on Mortikah VII, they had rescued several ranking Cardinals and Bishops from worlds in revolt, and more importantly, saved several repositories of precious lore and artifacts from the howling mobs. When Vandire was pulled down from his stolen throne, the Guardians of the Covenant were instrumental in re-installing Ecclesiarchal authority in the region, forging a close tie with the local Eccesiarchy that persists to this day. But would Sarah remain faithful? To be the mother of the covenant race was a high and holy calling. As such, Sarah would give birth to a great and noble spirit, chosen before the foundation of the world, who would be an important link in establishing the Lord’s royal family upon the earth. This noble spirit would be born in a heathen land where he would be fully exposed to all the evils of idol worship. His faith in the one true God would depend largely on the influence his mother would have upon him. Through her he would learn of the covenant the Lord had made with Abraham. He would learn that he was the chosen heir of that covenant, and that to the degree that he honored it, future generations would cherish it.

While the children were still in her womb, the Lord revealed to Rebekah that, contrary to the custom of the day, the “elder would serve the younger.” (Gen. 25:23.) With this knowledge, she jealously guarded Jacob’s God-given right to be the heir to the covenant. When she discovered that Isaac intended to give this blessing to Esau, who had already sold his birthright to Jacob and had further discredited himself by marrying two Canaanite women, she interfered and substituted Jacob in his stead. Sarah was now ready for the blessing, and that blessing was Isaac. With the announcement to Abraham that Sarah would have a child, the Lord conferred upon her the title of “Princess”; thus all future generations of the covenant race could refer to her as their royal mother. (See Gen. 17:15–16.) And even though Sarah was ninety years old, she “received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.” (Heb. 11:11.) This Chapter is known for its exceptionally monastic character. True warrior-monks of the Emperor, they have penned several tomes that have been added to the Lore of the Lion over the millennia. This attention to the wise words of these and numerous other important figures carries over into more areas of the Chapter's identity, as many of the Chapter's brethren are masters of the calligraphic arts. Just outside Gonder, my car passed Wolleka village, where a mud-hut synagogue bore a Star of David on the roof—a relic of Jewish life in the region that endured for as long as four millennia, until the 1990s. That was when the last of the Bet Israel Jews (also known as the Falasha, the Amharic word for "stranger") were evacuated to Israel in the face of persecution by the Derg.I followed him up a wooded path and onto a ridge where a pair of young monks were standing by a small shrine, their eyes closed in prayer. Abba Gebre pointed to the shrine. "That's where Jesus and Mary sat each day while they were here." There's potentially a danger that you gloss over the Guardians' scholarly practices by focusing too much on their monastic vows. I don't think music would be the primary pursuit, personally - I would've thought that literature and art would be promoted. Especially when the DA Codex makes reference to scripture and murals and the like. But through the centuries, Ethiopian Christians have claimed that the ark rests in a chapel in the small town of Aksum, in their country's northern highlands. It arrived nearly 3,000 years ago, they say, and has been guarded by a succession of virgin monks who, once anointed, are forbidden to set foot outside the chapel grounds until they die.

The Chapter's Astartes study the teachings of the Emperor and of their Primarch Lion El'Jonson in minute detail, attaining a unique perspective on the object of their diligent studies. Every shred of ancient wisdom is absorbed, debated and analysed, so that no ruse or stratagem is beyond the Guardians of the Covenant, and none may better them on the field of battle. Just as a note, there are a couple of times you use the term 'Emporium' when you mean 'Imperium' :D)In fact, under the Limitation Act 1980 she is only liable for the past six years. But if she fails to pay, her flat could be seized by the freeholder.
