You can turn these mini beaded flip flops into bag charms, novelty necklaces, keychains and keyrings, cake and cupcake toppers, party favors, hanging decorations as well as handmade card and scrapbook embellishments. Pass the needle through to the under side of the flip flop strap and begin to secure each of these loops in place as you did before; you will need to create a series of small tacking stitches around the edge of each loop (I did two on each side), passing your needle under the flip flop strap, over the edge of the beaded loop, and back again. Bring the needle back through the strap at virtually the same spot, and repeat the above steps until you have another loop.

Let’s just say that I figured out that Instructables needed an ‘Embellish your own Flip Flops’ set of instructions, and I just so happened to be making a pair of embellished flip flops! This is kind of the same way, but the Perler beads aren’t even quite a textured as those Crocs were, so that’s a win in my book. You might find you need to try and different combination of beads here, depending on the particular sizes you have used. Thread 2 pearls, 1 silver bead, and 2 pearls onto your cotton working your way down the middle of your crystal bead circle.

As I was working on the darn things I actually started to wonder why I always felt my feet were so big.

When slicing through the rubber sole try to create a nice straight and even line from the hole to the edge in a way that the cut is as short as it can be so you can also keep the integrity of the sole intact as much as possible. But it turns out it isn’t my size :) In spite of that, I decided that it was imperative that I wear these suckers around for at least one full day so I could honestly say if they are “wearable” or not. Since I didn’t sew them I don’t plan on wearing them everywhere, but whenever I do I get tons of compliments! Continue to wrap the ribbon around the other side of the strap until you get to the bottom, where you cut the ribbon and glue it down to the inside.

Add small amounts of hot glue to hold your ribbon as you go and secure the end when you are finished with hot glue as well. Using whatever tool you are most comfortable with, fill the shape of the sole per your paper guide below, following around the edges and leaving a 4×4 bead area clear for each of the thong attachment areas.

But on the straps of this design, the glitter beads can be seen to great effect and look really pretty. Continue wrapping your ribbon around the straps on your flip-flops until they are completely covered. Take note of the material the strap is made from as you need to be able to sew through this, so it can’t be too thick or tough to pass a needle through. but if you’re vacationing at the beach or just bumming around on the weekend you definitely need a fancy pair of flip flops to take your casual beach look up a notch and this DIY tutorial to make your own beaded flip flops, is just the way to do it.I re-made mine just like you described, I just used my bijou stuff I do no wear anymore for the beads. Leather sandals women, flat sandals, strappy sandals, women's leather sandals women, Gift for her, shoes. There will be “slack” using a wider ribbon, that will not show up as much or if at all as compared with a smaller-width ribbon.

When I’m working with beads, I like to keep them contained somehow (or else they’ll roll all over the place and I’ll lose a few). Anyway, my question – do the seashells have holes in them, and oh, yeah – when sewing on the pearls, do you take the thread all the way down through the ribbon and then back up? Buttons and/or other smaller embellishments such as earrings, pendants, nail decorations or other “bling” such as glue-on jewels, etc.

When I need a break or to get some work done, I’ll toss some beads and pegboards and patterns in front of the kiddos and check in on them every once in a while to make sure everything is copacetic. But as I ironed to join my first shoe sole made of nothing but beads I realized something… this is not going to be thick or strong enough to hold the thong straps. Each bead has to be sewn on separately, not strung together first and then sewn on (unless you are going for that strung-together look. Take your ribbon again and wrap it around and back and forth across the center "V" of your flip-flops to fill in.
