and so the brother and sister normally stay in Lippinton with their Uncle Geoffrey and his housekeeper, both of whom (according to Lucy-Ann) hate it when the kids are home for the holidays. a path under the sea-bed itself - there are no end to the adventures that the four children have, Then there is Kiki, the parrot, whose ridiculous chatter delights the children and who shares in their amazing adventures.

Inscription in ink to front endpaper (dated 1944); part of ink name has transferred across to front pastedown. Just off the coast is the mysterious Isle of Gloom – constantly shrouded in mists it is completely uninhabited, and has been for a long time. It was definitely a rights issue which meant that the 1996 adaptation of the full series couldn’t include Castle, but that doesn’t explain why their replacement for it ( The Woods of Adventure) is so dire. Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB.Will Jack be able to rescue the others with the help of his new friends and decide the fate of an entire nation? Kiki the parrot is Jack's pride and joy and has instilled herself very quickly in the first book as a major character, with her amazing knack of coming out with just the right phrase for the situation. Boards with rubbing, creasing, edge and corner wear, marks, wear top and bottom of spine, discolouration. The Adventure Series by Enid Blyton, a prolific English children's author, is a series of eight children's novels.

At first she adopts Jack and Lucy-Ann into her family, providing them a loving home; later she marries their common friend Bill and finds a new family with all of them.

So kudos to Enid Blyton for starting a book – and a series – in a way that "grabs" (as opposed to the usual talk of "boring hols").

Jack and Lucy-Ann are unable to go home as their uncle has broken his leg, so Philip invites them to come and stay with him and his sister Dinah at Craggy-Tops.I needed something easy to read that was going to require zero effort, so I reverted back to my childhood and picked up one of my Enid Blyton books. I forgot how I used to read quickly to find out what was going to happen next, and this hasn’t changed. Philip and Dinah's father is dead too, but while their mother is alive and well, she's away pretty much all the time, working to earn a living and send money back to Craggy-Tops. He is quite a tease with his sister Dinah about her squeamishness and often gets into fights with her about it.

Oh and it’s also full of bad men who lock kids in a cave when they get caught and don’t care if they get lost and starve to death in mines!

This is a lovely bright and clean copy of the first story in Enid Blyton s 8-volume Adventure Series , featuring Philip, Jack, Dinah, Lucy-Ann, and not forgetting Jack s pet parrot, Kiki, plus lashings of Ginger Beer! The award was given by the Boys’ Club of America, though in America the book was titled Mystery Island. The great thing about her is that, as hot-headed as she is, you don't get any feeling of malice or general nastiness. Corners/edges rubbed, light readers creases to spine, pages slightly browned, no writing or scribble, else in Very Good Condition. Lucy-Ann is very affectionate towards the people she loves, particularly her brother Jack, though sometimes she is a little jealous that Jack seems to love birds more than her.
