The Garrett ACE 250 is a very capable and easy-to-use coin and relic detector that would also be very useful on small, shallow gold. When you are metal detecting I think this option won’t affect you if you are in US or UK, so you don’t have to worry. The metal detectors of other manufacturers (Minelab, Fisher) have long had additional twist locks that exclude such a play. I looked for days/weeks and without realising it I have come to the decision that the Garret 250 is the best machine for me. Custom:- Set standard as the same as coin mode, but the user can programme custom settings using the elimination, and discrimination to select individual specifications.

I love the fact I could just switch it on and go, then later as my confidence improved I adjusted the sensitivity and eliminated drink can tabs. It doesn't get much easier, and as you gain experience the controls can be adjusted to your own wishes. One can also detune to narrow down the size of the target by releasing the Pinpoint pad, repressing, and holding it as the center of the coil comes closer to the center of the target. When I started out with the ACE250, it used to beep at the weirdest times, turns out that for what ever reason, stiff blades of wet grass would trigger the OEM coil.
