I really like the Taskbar feature, which lets you pin your favorite apps to the side of the display and follow you to any app. It's just like Windows. However, you have to dig in the Labs setting to turn this on. You can see in this shot of portulaca flowers that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is capable of delivering vibrant colors, though the details could be a bit better in the petals when I zoomed in. I slightly prefer the contrast offered by the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The under-display selfie camera, which sits behind the phone’s inner screen, doesn’t suffer quite as badly from a washed-out-looking image as some of the others do, but the overall image quality isn’t going to blow you away, either.

Samsung is selling a brand-new S Pen specially designed for this foldable phone. Actually, there are two of them: the S Pen Fold Edition, and the larger S Pen Pro, with Bluetooth for Air Actions and USB-C charging. Samsung's 3rd generation of the Galaxy Z Fold is currently one of the largest folding smartphones in the world. New features include a 120 Hz outer display, waterproof housing and a brighter inner display. Thanks to the more powerful processor, the phone now supports the optional S-Pen as well. The best foldable phone – so far

Unfortunately, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s display averaged 422 nits of brightness in our lab testing. That’s okay but nearly half what the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra turned in (821 nits), and the iPhone 12 Pro Max also hit a relatively high 654 nits. Given that I’ve always found using a stylus on even the biggest phablets cramped, it’s refreshing to see Samsung add S Pen support to a 7.6-inch foldable phone. There’s simply more room to take notes, sketch or mark up documents without needing to constantly zoom in. The biggest disadvantage of these new screen protectors is that they're not user removable. Over the past six months, the larger inner screen remains completely free from scratches and dents, despite heavy usage during that time. Before we delve into the improvements, let's cover that new camera on the larger inside display. From a resolution standpoint, it's a pretty big downgrade. At 4MP, it's a 6MP resolution reduction from the Z Fold 2, but there's a good reason for it. With the same physical sensor size, Samsung could cram much larger pixels inside the area since there aren't so many of them. The two displays, and a hinge mechanism that allow you to fold and unfold this phone, combine for the most head-turning mobile gadget design of 2021. Yes, we’ve seen it twice before, but most people we showed the Galaxy Fold 3 to still haven’t seen anything like it.In all my time testing the Z Fold 3, I never noticed anything short of the very best performance I've seen out of any phone. I was regularly blown away by how many apps the Fold 3 keeps in memory at a time. This phone is a multitasker's dream come true in every possible way. While Apple allegedly prepares its own foldable, we can only draw comparisons to what's available right now, and that's the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Galaxy Z Fold's 3 battery life could be better. The foldable lasted under 8 hours on our web surfing test, while other flagships last 10 hours or more.If you can believe it, the new polyethylene terephthalate (PET) screen protectors that ship with the phone make an even bigger impact on quality than the improved outer screen. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 2, these protectors feel like glass and won't scratch easily. They're part of what allows the Z Fold 3 to support the S Pen, which we'll talk about in the section below.
