The difference between someone changing their dice and someone not, is the difference between driving on the autobahn and someone’s first drive in stick shift. There is much more depth to the building of cards than to the building of dice, with more scope for doing clever things. The second action that you can take on your turn is to move your player pawn to any one of the celestial islands, purchasing a new card by spending sun or moon shards.

The dice faces come in their own specially sleeved tray that keeps them all in place and ready for the next game. At some point you are going to have to stop fawning over its looks and get down to playing the actual game. Also if you look at that gamefound, it's easy to be deceived---the actual gameplay portions are not cheap but aren't over the top expensive.Put yourself in spots that other players will likely want to go, so that they’ll push you back to the start and you can get some additional resources. The dice are no ordinary cubes; they can be reforged by spending money to replace dice faces with progressively better ones, allowing you to slowly build a strategy (and your dice) as you move through the game.

Once a die face is purchased it must immediately be crafted on to one of the players die by removing an already existing face.The player boards have little holes to hold the markers tightly against careless knocks and they come pre-punched! It's a fun game, but the first two times we played it, we were sure that there was something we were missing as we were getting ~20 points a game, and there's 100 point chips in the box. If a player lands on a spot with an additional path and moves in the same directions as the arrows on it, one must follow that direction. The theme and backstory of Dice Forge is absurd and pointless and I’m grateful that it doesn’t stand in the way of the original mechanics that make this game so good. If you’ve ever played games with me, you know I’m a big fan of inserts that keep the game box organized.

My flatmate has rolled the Mirror of the Abyss dice face, letting him copy one rolled face from an opponent and apply its effect.Everything, even the advanced card powers, are reasonably easy to understand, although you do have to explain them all at the start of the game which is a pain.
