Excellent plug and play' replacement for my defunct EP2001, and a number of other Potterton Controllers. The new Potterton EP2 Twin Channel Programmer can be used with backplates from the existing EP range, making it quick and easy to fit without requiring any additional wiring.

Took 5 minutes to swap the new EP2 for the older programmer, and 4 of those were spent looking over the installation instructions to check I'd bought the right thing. It’s not very clear what this is showing, but the sequences are referred to as ID numbers running from 1 to 12. In the initial set up of the programmer, the installer can select a programmer option, based on the wiring and the type of system, pumped or gravity. We took off front cover of old one there was wiring underneath god we thought we would have to redo wiring but we didn’t the cover off new one just pushed in and straight away the boiler fired up. I carefully cut the central support out and discarded it; this allowed me to push the wires back into the pattress and the programmer to fully locate on the backplate. You can select 2 or 3 on/off cycles per day, weekday/ weekend, heating and or hot water on, or individual days can all be selected. This programmer meets central heating demands via 24 hour 5/2 day or 7 day time settings allowing the user to select the schedule that suits their weekly or daily requirements. Managed to remove the old programmer from it's backplate / wall plate by rotating it upwards from underneath around its hinges at the top. Not sure what the problem is but wondered if it's reasonable to think that it's a fault with the programmer so, if I'm going to change it, then to opt for the EP2? I have no special electrical knowledge but based on my background reading I just switched the power off at the mains, swooped the controller, and switched the power back on.

When slider is moved over to set all seven days appear on the top of the screen and I cannot just get to individual days of the week. One note however, the EP2 face plate has a tiny screw on the lower edge that is screwed in from the underside to really lock the faceplate in position.
