Description

Every dentist should have this book available for their clients to read and I would I argue that most people could really do with a copy of this book in their house. Also, the gum of a young tooth is not mature, and it can shrink back a bit and settle into the 20’s.

This gave me a very diverse experience of clinical practice and the opportunity to practise dentistry in some very arduous conditions. They have done everything in their power to ensure that you will have the most relaxing and enjoyable experience possible. Yang is able to earnestly flesh out Nothing but the Tooth into a dynamic, all-encompassing guidebook for the consumer – covering everything from relevant dental services, to dental insurance, to exposes on expenses related to dental health, to proclaimed ‘orthodontal secrets. Furthermore a lot of the anatomical photographs have no measure of scale to help the more uninformed reader. I knew a little about forensic dentistry from previous study and I felt this helped me through a long, perhaps slightly overcomplicated, section. From entering the practice until I left I was treated with the utmost professionalism and compassion. There were close associations with lower income, lower occupational class, higher deprivation and lower educational attainment. This book offers facts and figures regarding famous historical figures, such as John Hunter, Dr Crippen, Doc Holliday, and Paul Revere, exploring how their connections to dentistry shaped them, as well as the story of the two young dentists who discovered the principles of general anaesthesia. Our treatment rooms are clean and comfortable and have recently passed a thorough inspection by the Care Quality Commission with flying colours. Practicing dentists, for whom I now have nothing but respect, should also make this book their required reading.

There are various points in the book that dentists can benefit from in retaining patients and generating referrals. I have a passion for skiing, sailing and any other water sports but it is my twin girls who generally keep me rather fit! I found one or two chapters a little hard going, most notably the highly scientific 'you are what you eat' section, which required a little perseverance. One never knows when the average weight of an elephant molar or which Nobel Prize winning dentists invented anaesthesia will come in handy. The book takes the reader through a whole host of interesting dentally relevant areas and is not rivaled in any other text out there. This weakened the tooth and had a relatively high chance of abscess leading to a poor long-term prognosis. Yang has done what seemed impossible to do —compiling all of the information in one easily accessible book. Yang and her beautifully written, concise and fully understandable book, Nothing But The Tooth, back when I was younger and could have used so much of the advise and explanation in the book?

Yang channels her outstanding professional knowledge to help make the world of oral health care accessible for all audiences. The reception and comfortable patient lounge has current newspapers and magazines, the area is fitted with WiFi and you can relax with a hot or cold drink before or after your appointment. So, composite resin bonding is perfect because we can just add to without further damage and if the gum moves, we can add to again without having to drill off a crown or ceramic veneer.Once into the 20’s then you can consider a ceramic veneer as the gums will be more stable and the ceramic is smoother and more colour stable and can make the tooth a bit stronger. All the while she makes the narrative feel fun, entertaining, and invigorating – breathing life into what could otherwise by a dry, intellectually exclusive set of topics relevant to folks but communicated in a manner not effective, and therefore not empowering, for them to have full comprehension and decision-making abilities regarding healthcare. Well, look no further because I’ve got the ultimate guide for you: “The Tooth, the Whole Tooth, and Nothing but the Tooth”! I realise some photos are rare and gifted for publication and cannot be altered but having colour where possible would really bring the most out of the book.
