About this deal

It felt like the gore was used as a crutch, and some things would've been more effective and believable had he played more with the unreliability of the narrators. These narrators were so excellent, they sounded like entirely different people from interview to interview. The public displays of violence for power, the savage coups, and the scavenging and fringe behaviors were really fascinating from a psychological perspective. The book even deals with this a bit in the final chapters where they're looking back at the events in the park. The different voices and the fact that it's framed as a book about a real-life event make the parallel obvious, and there's a similar sense of dread hanging over the whole thing.

At the risk of sounding like a pessimist, human nature being what it is, a lot of the behavior was unnecessarily appalling and disturbing. People who are just jonesing for some teen-on-teen brutality and bloodshed: It's gonna satisfy your itch!

Either by giving them the same idea to protect themselves or they bought into them too much and followed their lead becoming Serial Killers.

Plot: Because of a number of bad decisions made by those in authority, the survivors in FantasticLand were left to their own devices for over a month, leading to a lot of people either dead or wishing they were. also, the warthogs, which are the absolute coolest pair in the book and were very wisely left mysterious, so their chilling ways were much more effective.

And given the unsanitary conditions and lack of real medical care, this hypothetical prisoner wouldn't have survived past losing finger two. it's mentioned, and there are assumptions, because the pirates are grabbing girls from other groups and taking them back to their lair, but while they are totally okay with killing people, the pirate leader does not condone rape, however, his reasons are only because of stds and babies. and just how long did they think they were going to be trapped in this amusement park, where that would be a concern? I had forgotten about the opening wherein Hurricane Sadie devastates the area of Florida where Fantasticland is located.

There was a group of employees - like a couple hundred - who became stranded there without rescue after a hurricane for a month and all hell broke loose. I guess if your cell phone is dead and you can’t play Clash of Clans you might as well do it for real. Management's decision to leave mostly young adults there with no power or cellphones was not a wise decision. The CFO of the company at the time had a very in-depth emergency plan in place; the problem was it was made in the 70s, never updated, and for the park as whole and not individual sections. I've seen several books since World War Z came out that have attempted to copy the style but no one has managed to get it right.Dramatic Irony: Tons as interviewees will give accounts of things and pose questions they wished answered, only for another to unintentionally give those answers while telling their stories. The book itself In-Universe is supposed to be written a couple of years or so after the employees are rescued. Utterly horrifying and impossible to put down—for a dozen reasons, but most of all, for how plausible the whole thing feels.

At first things were going well until he restricted access to the control room in the shelter to the disapproval of many and one girl, nicknamed Flynn by the others, in particular. For example the Pirates are presented as the Chaotic Evil tribe that constantly attacked other groups, kidnapped, murdered, and raped people. Two: It’s a bunch of teenagers and young adults with no cell phones, social media or adult supervision. I-dunno-what-I-just-read-but-I'm-pretty-sure-I-loved-it stars for the audiobook version narrated by all-stars Luke Daniels and Angela Dawe. Told through a series of interviews after the tragedy, FANTASTICLAND tells the tragic story of what happened to a bunch of internet dependant teens and young adults, when the amusement park at which they were employed, is flooded and isolated after a huge hurricane. I’m not sure what’s going on in Florida but nothing surprises me now with the stories that come out of the state.
