I knew I had to do something that was way out, looking into the future, opening people to different kinds of attitudes in life.

Having received George's help to create a whole new song from some unfinished fragments, John led the group through the rehearsals and recording while the clock ticked away the last remaining session time.Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017), The BEATLES (‘White Album’) (2018), Abbey Road (2019), and Let It Be (2021).

It was remixed back in 1999 for the “Yellow Submarine Songtrack”, and that mix was a revelation, the first time the strings were truly freed from being shackled together. The piano chords and overall vibe of the song still feel a little stilted, which is why in my opinion the Give My Regards to Broad Street version is the only time Paul redid a Beatles song and made an improvement on the original. The sunny vocals on “Good Day Sunshine” sound even sunnier, more upfront and joyful and bursting with optimism. The guitars on “And Your Bird Can Sing” shred the air between speaker and listener now, charging along like rampaging elephants – marvelous. On "Taxman"] I can take off the guitar, I can take off the bass, and then I can even separate the snare drum and kick drum as well. On the down side, I’d never before realized how out of tune the backing vocals on “I Want to Tell You” were – the boys probably should have honed those a little better before committing them to tape.

That depends – are you a Beatles music collector who views the special edition hardcover book as a bonus, or a Beatles book collector who views the special edition CDs as a bonus? I could go on all day about what a milestone in musical history Revolver was, but it must be conceded that as mighty as it was, Revolver did have one major flaw – an absolutely atrocious stereo mix. The band are always going to be 25 on ‘Revolver’ — they’re younger than Harry Styles — so they might as well sound like that. The outer box printed artwork isn't fixed to the card box very well, leaving very obvious, large and numerous visible air bubbles under the surface. My only gripe is that brilliant electric guitar drone that bursts in after “Love me while you can… drone…before I’m a dead old man… drone…” is more powerful in the 1999 mix, Giles kind of missed the boat there, it’s muted in the 2022 mix and loses some of its impact.Spinning popular music off its axis and ushering in a vibrant new era of experimental, avant-garde sonic psychedelia, Revolver brought about a cultural sea change and marked an important turn in The Beatles' own creative evolution. But this new mix is on a whole other level – the strings have a sharpness, a power, a definition unparalleled by any previous mix. The copyright in this sound recording is owned by Calderstone Productions Limited (a division of Universal Music Group)/Apple Corps Limited.

They wore the suits, they did the smiles, they shook their heads so the girls screamed,” Martin says. Across all the configurations, Revolver's Special Edition showcases the Grammy-winning original album artwork created by The Beatles' longtime friend, German bassist and artist Klaus Voormann. The previous year, his deepening interest in Indian music and learning how to play sitar had brought him together with Ravi Shankar, who became his close friend and occasional musical collaborator. There are a couple of reasons for this – for one, The Beatles were pushing the boundaries of the technology available to them. And Your Bird Can Sing" is just a jaw-dropper, and the opening track “Taxman” launches the album into the stratosphere from the get-go. He always did tend to create more inventive, complex bass parts when playing on someone else’s song, my theory is that only having to worry about the bass allowed him to concentrate a little more.
