About this deal

For those who don’t know about “adaptive headlights” they are quite clever in so much as they are fitted with motors or servos, so the bulbs can move left/right as you turn the steering wheel. Standard cars that drive on UK roads have a dipped headlamp beam that points forwards but with a “ left side bias”. I guess the adjustment screws wouldn’t affect the kick up and therefore it would need a different headlight unit.

If the weather has been bad during the day, so headlights are compulsory, I have wound the adjustment wheel on the dash all the way down so not to dazzle but obviously this wouldn’t really work at night. At Halfords, we know that driving abroad isn’t the same as at home, so to make help to make it we’ve created a guide to driving in Europe .Is this still the case or is there a different system or way of adjusting the headlights for European travel.

Park van about 4-5ft back from white wall (xenon beams can be seen in daylight), turn on headlights and use cardboard to blank out beam 'kick-up' pedestrian spotter.

Perhaps I should point out too that last time we were in France just before Christmas the Gendarmes were doing spot checks and pulling people over - you're now meant to carry a red triangle and a warning vest and if you don't a spot fine - easy money as British cars stand out like sore thumbs and most Brits think you don't need this stuff if you're just there for the day or passing through to Belgium. NOTE: Generally, the Adaptor will fit in the same position (NOT the opposite position) on each of the two Headlamps. Without removing the backing paper, take hold of the ‘tail’ end of an adaptor and offer the ‘round’ end up to the Headlamp in various positions (see folded leaflet for typical positions – Diagrams 1 - 8 are the most commonly used). They come off easily with a bit of warmth and some IPA (not beer) to remove any remaining adhesive marks, no issue with damaging the plastic.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. You will (if there aren’t any streetlights) be able to clearly see the beam pattern your headlights are projecting onto the wall. Any headlight, regardless of the technology should have a kick up into the verge depending on the side of the road that you drive on.

These easy to fit headlamp adaptors are a MUST HAVE for driving in Europe and fit ALL types of Headlamp design. If you're an Easyjet passenger who was issued a voucher during the Covid-19 pandemic, you've less than one week left to use it before it expires on 31 January 2024. A: The official French Road Safety organisation – ‘Association Prévention Routière advise that you should have a minimum of 2 breathalysers in your car. The headlamps will throw a light pattern in the machine similar to the one shown in the diagram below (Areas ‘A’ + ‘B’). I’ve been involved in a traffic survey in France, only foreign vehicles stopped and checked for Spare Bulbs, fluorescent jackets, deflectors and 1st Aid kit.
