Three singles were released from the album: ‘Hard to Explain’/’New York City Cops’, ‘Last Nite’, and ‘Someday’. The New Yorkers’ kickstarter for the 2000s indie scene spawned numerous singles including 'The Modern Age', 'Someday', 'Hard To Explain', and remains cherished by fans old and new. Per an interview in 2001/2002 with Julian Casablancas (I read it back then and wish I could find it now), about 5,000 copies were pressed before 9/11 with the song "New York City Cops.

The record is a heavy version 150-180 grams I guess, and the front cover has a sticker with black background and "The Strokes" in white letters and "Is This It" in red. The time was ripe for the scratchy, post-punk influenced guitars and throwback basslines of the Strokes, together with their tousled hair and don't-care attitude. The Strokes have an innate ability to create infectious melodies that stick with you long after the needle lifts off the record.

It has the big hit Last Nite which of course most people will have heard but there simple isn't a dull moment on this album.
