About this deal

What with most of Britain's cinema's already converted to bingo halls and supermarkets, exhibitor's were desperate to get the public or as they like to say over here "punters", to fill up those seats. I told him how much his films had meant to me, and how excited they had made me to go out and explore the world. The British tradition of ‘saucy postcard’ humour is perhaps best exemplified by the long running Carry On movies. In the first newsletter, I mentioned I’ve had one state secret in my life, which I immediately blurted to my mother.

Simon Sheridan has if you can pardon this and other puns in this piece, done a "bang-up" job of documenting the history of sex movies in British cinema.I'm very aware of the interest in James Bond but, finally, there is just so much you can say about him and the film you' re doing. He was sometimes his chief detractor but explained, “Listen, if I say I'm shit as an actor, then the critic can't, because I've already said it! Bond was nothing if not topical and that surely was a nod to the British sex films of the mid 1970's.

For Roger, it made sense, “This is a famous spy--everyone knows his name, and every bartender in the world knows he likes martinis shaken, not stirred. Starring Robin Askwith, Diane Keen, Linda Hayden, Oliver Tobias, Sue Longhurst and many more, scenes from KEEPING THE BRITISH END UP!Despite my punk years (aged eight to ten – I was angry early) it was one of the most extraordinary moments in my life. In their early days in the late 90's they dredged up long forgotten 70's stars like Askwith and Richmond for the Saturday night schedules.
