About this deal

One thing we didn’t like about Vivid TV mode was that it had a tendency to blow out the brightest scenes of the content we were watching with a green hue. This gives a higher contrast picture which is quite a bit more appealing, but the picture is not in its intended balance. In the case of the latter, the first is for service updates, while the second can be used to power other devices. Blacks are a light grey colour and there is no shadow detail retrieval at all with just large areas of black mist where the more expensive machines will give you the details in the dark blacks.

million distinct pixels, true 4K 3840x2160 resolution offers stunning clarity and crisp details, showcasing captivating content on the big screen in bright rooms. The lens is positioned to the right side of the front plate and the remote sensor is to the right of that, with a hot air exhaust on the left side. Being a single chip device also means there are no issues with panel alignment, which can be a slight issue for the 3-chip machines from Epson, Sony and JVC. Though the small, white projector has identical rounded looks similar to the HT2550 model, the first thing that you’ll notice about the BenQ TK800 is that it has a prettier blue front than more understated grey on the HT2550. So again, it is worth cutting through some of the marketing to get to the actual performance parameters.

The TK800's connections deliver the first hint of 4K action, with one of its two HDMIs supporting 4K HDR playback. The fact is, this projector — like the HT2550 — offers outstanding performance for how much it will set you back. A superb 4K disc like Planet Earth II was equally as impressive, bursting with fine detail, bright highlights, and natural colors.

However, they are not 4K projectors - 44 ms is about as fast as we've seen on 4K models; only the PX747-4K beats the TK800, but only by one at 43 ms. The best noise-canceling headphones have a great mix of features, including that all-important ANC and transparency mode for letting in some outside sounds. As an aside, we generally caution against aggressive use of keystone adjustments on any projector due to the fact that it operates by deactivating a portion of the display. For more performance driven projectors we will even take that up to 50 hours before starting any serious assessment. However some people are uniquely sensitive to this artifact, and there is no way to predict whether you may be one of them. However at AVForums we like to see if we can get things more accurate and will be doing that in the next section.

There is no lens shift but auto-keystone correction is included if you must angle the projector relative to the screen. I actually found myself preferring the 1080p version in this case because it looked cleaner if a bit softer. Also, its optical system uses a new 7-element, 4-group, all-glass lens with low-dispersion coatings to minimize chromatic aberration.Still, no onboard audio system can compete with an external system, especially in the bass department, but the TK800M can serve up better sound than many projectors in a pinch.
