All this complaining but damn now I wanna see where things go, heroine hasn’t made a stand or anything but perhaps the guys have a chance to suffer over what they’ve done to her in the past. Thank you Bea for putting your heart and soul in your books because I for one am not reading a book I'm experiencing it! This story almost feels like a fairy tale – a mute girl with a tragic past, and 3 criminal guys with fearsome reputations who bring her to their remote home and give her a task. I don't think I could pick a favourite out of the three men, although I do love Lorcan's kindness to Cyn.

The characters are dynamic and so much fun, and you’re definitely left needing to know everything after the ending! The heavy emphasis on the past keeps progress in the present more slow, and we’re lighter all the answers and have a slower burn, which only means we’re in for a jaw dropping conclusion to the duet. I thought it was a bit slow at times as it repeated the inner thoughts of the men but it picked up momentum towards the end. So if you don't like some darkness in your romance, if you don't like some kinks, maybe this isn't the book for you.

Having us riding the wave from the many ups and downs they all travelled, filled with a lot of changes within emotions and feelings being discovered. The way the Deana-Dhe figure things out at the end and how they have to eat crow made me giggle so hard. Since there was a lot to be learnt about Cyn and the Deana-Dhe’s aka Arden, Carrick and Lorcan, considering the past history they shared. No, Bea gives us the pain and the heartache and then brings the reader full circle and gives the reader the insight to these human monsters.I've read Bea's books and this series that can be read as stand a alone duet but I recommend reading , at least The Duet " The Dancer and the Masks before this one. Each of them has their own motives and game, all of which intersect with their attraction, longing, and complications with one another- what a tangled web they weave. Cyn was so stoic in this story but you could tell there was this underlying fire as she waited for the guys to come around to what she already knew to be true: that she was theirs and they were hers.

Those glimpses into the past were really raw and messed up at times that I can see why all the reviews mention that this is a darker romance story. it’s just super forgetable there’s nothing special about the characters or the plot and it didn’t even have smut to make up for it like i needed something to keep me pushing through this book. I myself had a lot of trouble with that at the beginning because I was more interested in the present, and didn't find the chapters in the past interesting. and the plot was so dumb they’re using her debt to them to make this drug from them to sell and she can be free after and they don’t know whether to trust her which i’m like why u letting her make u this drug she can screw u over.Bea takes a really relationally immersive approach here- with a lot of flashbacks to help shape our understanding for their dynamics. It was all very poetic that I wanted to know more about their time together once they all started to come around but we skipped right to the Shylock and the Skull Brotherhood drama. And Cyn she is a special badass lady in how she put up with these guys in there past, she is a saint in my eyes. I'm hanging on by a thread about 2 hours from the end of the book and its a lot words and no action. But the fact that despite his personality making him seem like it was the easiest to crack open out of the three, it felt like there was so much more to be said and discovered about him IMO.
