Just as Ormond must have felt this great connection to the models and location and his dream – we connect to the spirit, freedom and joy of the picture. The image depicts 43 women poised in the windows of a New York City brownstone, exuding an ephemeral vibrancy that captures the essence of 1960s fashion and art photography. Stained glass windows are made of glass that has been colored by mixing molten glass with metallic oxides. This handsome volume highlights a significant body of work, captures a vital aspect of the great age of photojournalism.

Not every interior allows for large Ormond Gigli art, so small editions measuring 9 inches across are available. The richness of the photograph stems from the ability to appreciate it in different ways: either as a whole, as a rhythmic composition of color and form, formed by the pattern of windows, human figures, and colorful dresses; or the viewer is drawn to explore its various parts, each woman presenting a different point of the interesting story (Gigli’s wife is on the second floor, far right and the demolition supervisor’s wife is on the third floor, third from left). Since the building had been gutted of electricity and gas – there was a gaping hole on the sidewalk.Ormond Gigli, longtime photographer for TIME, LIFE, Paris Match and others , snapped everything from farmers to movie stars in his decades long career. Girls in the Windows, 1960 by Ormond Gigli, is a 38" x 38" (image size) archival pigment print signed by the photographer.
