We've been using early samples from Japan on a daily basis since the end of 2008 and they really do work. Your writing will always remain clean and sharp, and you don’t have to worry as much about lead breakage. It might be blocked by dirt, but the pencil was straight out of a sealed package and I cannot see any dirt.

I realized quite suddenly, when I was doing some pencil writing with one of my Pipes this afternoon, how often the lead had been breaking, and accompanying or short of that, how often I could not control the tactile heavy pressure vs. Whether you need to jot down quick notes or engage in lengthy writing tasks, you can effortlessly switch between speeds to match your desired pace. Sadly, I love everything else about these pencils; the look and tactile-material feel of the grip and barrel (I have multiple sensory-processing disabilities, and my two plastic-Pipe Kuro Togas I have no complaints with either solid-touch tactility in construction or the clutch-advancing mechanism) are one of the most comfortable mechanical pencils to use for me otherwise. The inside of the mechanism is divided into three gears, and the middle gear connected to the pencil lead moves up and down using the writing pressure when writing letters.Each pressing down of the lead will rotate the lead about twice as much as the original model, so pressing the lead down 20 times will rotate it by 360°.

The thing that bothers me about the Kuru Toga most though is the play that is needed to use the mechanism. Standard Kuru Toga pencils rotate the lead once every 40 strokes, while the Kuru Toga Advance rotates the lead once every 20 strokes. We take intellectual property concerns very seriously, but many of these problems can be resolved directly by the parties involved. The Dive was originally a limited edition release, but it was so popular that Uni decided to add it to the standard lineup! I’m not a fountain pen user, and generally use a mix of ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil at work.My way of holding a writing instrument: the barrel of the instrument rests on the index finger so it is at a high angle 65 -70 degrees (i have not used a fountain pen since the 4th grade). I got a few Kuru Toga models as samples but have used only one (namely the simple orange version, M54501P.

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. The Advance version of the Kuru Toga features the Slide Pipe mechanism, and wraps the whole thing up in a smart metal shell.

I noticed this pen doesn’t work well for me, so this should be seen as advice in the form of a friendly ‘Hey, this pen might not work for you, it didn’t work for me”.
