Anyway, since Inverters usually have overdischarge protection set for lead acid batteries on around 10,5V – and since we need to add at least 1V for buck converter – this is not the case here. I’ve checked 12V and 24V, car inverters and sadly they all have over/under voltage protection that will not work with 18V Makita (that can vary from 20V to as low as 10V). The Makita really seems like a dedicated cordless power station solution to me, as you can’t simply swap in whatever 18V or XGT 40V Max batteries you want. Also, there’s no reason you couldn’t make use of the PDC1200 + XGT adaptor to run a XGT miter saw with legendary run time. If I were to ask a question on the carp just blurbed out there and all points are not addressed, would my system work?

With the noise and 2 stroke engine bans, the growing EV car market, as well as new battery tech coming; gets me wondering 10 years from now where we will be. I haven’t notice it to be a real problem – it balanced itself during longer usage and finally all batteries where evenly discharged :). While most packages will arrive on time, there may be circumstances and delays that our carriers may experience. As an aggregator you could use Wago (left on picture above) connectors (they should withstand the current, despite they are not rated for it) – but I’ve used connector (two on the right side of the picture above) design to be used in mains line boxes rated for 80A.An old style Battery charger (no fancy electronics) Just a transformer and a full wave rectifier works fine.

But be aware that you need one with a decent current capability, my setup with my 9volt bosch drills peaks well over 12 amps on initial start and drops to a good 6-7 amps in full power mode on the trigger regulator. You need to have three of the largest sized batteries Makita makes to even think about getting 1000W out of it due to voltage drop. Power Inverter for Makita 18V Battery w/AC Outlet USB-A Type-C Ports Portable Power Station LED Light Outdoor Generator for Road Trip, Home Emergency, Laptop (Tool Only, No Battery) - Walmart. Perfectly fine for charging a laptop/tablet, keeping a wifi router on for a long time, running a 120v table lamp, cpap. It does not have any built in charging capabilities, but can accommodate separate AC battery chargers up to the max power output wattage.

Product photos show off the power station charging 2x XGT 40V Max batteries via a plugged-in dual port charger. XT90 connector – to connect battery pack to inverter, I’ve also add smaller XT60 connector, because I have quite a lot of DIY devices with that connector. It does not look like there’s any way to power this with Makita’s XGT 40V Max cordless power tool batteries.

Edit:- but as my small drill drivers are not used in battery mode anymore I modified the drill body with a plug in lead. inverter still requires at least 67Amps (more like 80A) for 12V and this is already a lot of current (twice at peak). In my opinion, this all looks great, except for how the power station and inverter looks to essentially require the PDC1200 battery pack. Makita also makes a DC cigarette lighter style vehicle slow charger for LXT batteries, so that may be a better way to charge if you’re worried about the losses and not worried about the extended charge time. I’ve tested it for few minutes with around 800-900W load (meter showed almost 90Amps on output) – all wires and electronic was fine. I don’t think anything more will be useful for this type of power source, or even with the car battery. I tried running 20 feet of 12v cable then using dc/dc inverter to 19v, failed dismally, i can however run out 40 feet of 240 cord and convert that to 19, camera and laptop are connected and limited in distance to length of usb cable, again i cant run a 40 foot usb cable.
