Lemon-Almond Chiffon Cake (Inspired by Spirited Away) – I love lemon and almond so I had to give this one a try. The fact that I am familiar with this Anime and the fact that the cake is never truly defined in the story made this one an easy fit for the story. Join an otaku on her tour through anime food and find out what your favorite characters are savoring and sharing and then learn to make it at home! Including: But how to actually make sushi, right? You can find amazing traditional and modernized recipes online that will teach you how to make great sushi on a first try even if you’ve never done it before. Mikan Ame (Inspired by After the Rain) – Honestly, this one felt like cheating because it is all about adding a little extra to a fruit that is already delicious. It is general knowledge that Japanese people not only eat with mouth but also with eyes. As a land of kawaii/cuteness they make everything become art of beauty include food. It is not only contains nutrisious ingredient but also all way too cute to eat foods.

You can get a grip on what role it plays in Japan nowadays, by watching the comedy-drama anime Shirobako. The food in anime can act as a window onto Japanese culture and history, and can bring even more meaning to the scene it’s featured in. I was so intrigued by this that I wanted to explore it—and this book was developed from my perspective as an outsider looking in. Each recipe also had a blurb that talked about what anime was the inspiration for the recipe and the specific moments in the anime that the recipe comes from. I also enjoyed the wide variety of anime that recipes were inspired by, from more well-known anime like Studio Ghibli films, One Piece, Pokemon, and Fruits Basket, to anime that I hadn't heard of. It’s fun, filled with great characters and the food… OH, the FOOD. If this show doesn’t get you hooked on anime food then nothing will.Japanese Matcha Green Tea has long been regarded as a cure for the soul and body. It is actually proven to have a strong immune system supporting components that even help fight cancer.

Tamagoyaki is the broad term for Japanese Rolled Egg or Omelet. If you want to translate it to English, Tamago is eggs and Yaki is grill so it would be grilled eggs. I love how the book began with a list of essential food and tools that are required in your anime food kitchen and how it went into detail, describing the ingredients, what it is used for, and what it tastes like. Gives you an idea of what your food will taste like and what the consistency will be like in the end. Japanese animation has beautiful designs, fleshed out characters, and engaging storylines—and it’s also overflowing with so many scrumptiously rendered meals. Do you ever watch your favorite anime series and start craving the takoyaki or the warmth of delicious ramen or the fluffy sweetness of mochi? Now, you can make your cravings a reality with Cook Anime! Ichigo, the Sweets Princes, and their “Sweets Spirits” little fairies who make patissiers’ dreams come true, work together to achieve their goals in the competitive world of sweets. I received a copy from the Quarto Publishing Group through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

4| Freshly Baked! Ja-Pan (Yakitate!! Japan)

Somehow I misunderstood when I requested this book and thought that it was more about food drawings, so I was a bit surprised when I discovered that it’s a real cookbook. There is quite a wide range of recipes, from appetisers to mains and desserts and drinks. Unfortunately it’s NOT vegan/vegetarian friendly at all, but I know I can’t expect that of every cookbook I read. If you love Anime and baking, then we have the perfect cookbook for you. Not only can you create sweet treats inspired by your favorite shows, but there’s more to this cookbook than that.
