About this deal

Cluemasters are also expected to keep a straight face when teammates are guessing. Do not reach for a Cover Card when your teammates begin discussing a card. Wait until they actually touch it. When a teammate chooses a card of the correct color, you must act as though that was the card you meant even if it was not. The costs for delivery, installation services and monthly insurance products cannot be placed on BNPL. You will be faced by 25 potential agents. Only the two Spymasters will know the true location of every one. Using only one word and one number they will try to lead you to your agents while avoiding the innocent bystanders or the dreaded assassin. You would think that would be easy to do, right? No one would give a clue that leads you to an instant loss, would they? If the Cluemaster gives "zero" as the number part of the clue, the usual limit on guesses does not apply. Players may guess as many cards as they want (as long as they keep guessing right, of course), however, they still must guess at least one card.

I know some Disney films, primarily Pixar ones, but also a few of the older classics. I probably recognise 60% of the artwork and 40% of the words in Codenames: Disney. It supports both words and pictures which I really like. I am a much bigger fan of original Codenames with words than I am of Codenames: Pictures– but in Disney, playing with pictures is definitely the most fun for me. Codenames is a hugely popular title in board gaming. Since winning the Spiel des Jahres award it’s really hit the mainstream. Codenames: Disney was one of the first special themed versions of the game, alongside Codenames: Marvel, and it also serves as the family version of the game. Both editions are published by USAopoly. A Whole New World… for Codenames? The Key matches the grid. The Red Team will try to identify cards in red squares, and the Blue Team will try to identify cards in blue squares. The clue must be about the card (picture or word), not about the patterns that the cards make on the table, or the letters in certain words. Here are a two examples of what should be considered invalid clues:Keep a straight face when teammates are guessing. Do not reach for a Cover Card when your teammates are in discussion.. Even if you didn’t mean the card, you must act as though it was yours when a teammate chooses the right color card.

The Spymaster’s job is to try and link words for and offer clues to the guessing side. For example, if the words you’re trying to link are “Elephant,”“Bat,” and “Mouse,” you could give the clue “Animal” to link them. Die Another Day Codenames is the perfect balance between simple gameplay that remains challenging enough to keep you hooked. It may take a game or so for new players to adjust to since it is probably quite a bit different than most of the other games that they have played before. After that though the game is really easy to play. The game has a recommended age of 8+ and that seems about right. The gameplay is a mixture of a word and party game that work perfectly together. The Cluemasters need to analyze the cards and try to find a clever connection between their assigned cards that their teammates will also likely interpret in the same way. Meanwhile their teammates need to try and figure out what their Cluemaster was trying to tell them. This gameplay mechanic is so simple and yet it works so well. As the grid is randomly assembled before every game, you will never play the same game twice. It is also hard to not feel a strong sense of accomplishment when you are able to complete a round where you correctly guess three or four cards with one clue. Simply put Codenames is a fantastic game and is almost as close to perfect as a board game could possibly hope to achieve. I honestly can’t recommend the game enough. I, personally, am not a big fan of “Social Party” style games. But Codenames is the exception to the rule. And now there are many different versions of Codenames that you can enjoy, from Codenames: Pictures to Codenames: Marvel, there’s something for everyone. Shop the collection here. If a player touches a card belonging to the rival team, they help the rival team and the card is covered by the rival’s Cover Card. The team’s turn ends. Cluemaster covered the neutral card with a neutral cover Cluemasters are expected to give only one word and one number. Do not preface with additional comments! For instance, "I don't know if you'll get this unless you've seen the classic films" reveals way too much information. In September 2016, Codenames: Pictures was made available where images were used on the cards instead of words. Despite having the same rules as the original, this version had a grid of 20 cards instead of 25. Once a clue has been given, it’s up to the team to work out which words the spymaster is trying to communicate to you. If you select a correct word, well done, you’ve found a fellow agent! Be careful though, select a wrong word and one of three things can happen! You could have mistaken an innocent bystander for an agent, a rather foolish thing to do! You could have found one of the other team’s agents, which will simply give them the upper hand! But worst of all, you could find the dangerous assassin. Find him, and it’s game over for you my friend!

Czech Games Edition's Codenames is a fantastic, easy-to-play word association game. Players split into two teams, each team having a nominated spymaster. Spymasters are given a grid that details the exact location of all their agents in the field. It is up to the spymasters to communicate the locations of the agents to their teammates. However, there is one big catch! The locations are all associated with words, and the only way to communicate these is to give one-word clues. You can, in theory, play Codenames with just two players. But in my opinion, it just loses all of the attraction that a social deduction game can bring. I would suggest only playing with six or more players to get the best from the game and the social fun that can occur. If you want two play two-player, Codenames Duet would be your go-to. Final Thoughts On Codenames The Disney theme does lead to most of the issues that I had with this version of Codenames though. I don’t have a problem with the Disney theme as I am a big fan of Disney. The gameplay is still fantastic and I would still highly recommend the game. It just doesn’t live up to the main game mostly because of the theme. This is due to a couple of reasons. Codenames: Disney Family Edition was released in September 2017, featuring characters and locations from Disney and Pixar films and including an easier 4x4 grid gameplay (with no 'Game Over' square) for younger players. Codenames: Marvel Edition was released around the same time, featuring characters from the Marvel Universe, such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Iron Man and Captain America. [3] Both of these editions come with their own clue cards, which can be flipped over to display the picture or the word.

The color bars outside of the grid on any Key Card indicate which team starts (example circled above). The team that starts has 6 Treasure Cards to identify, and the rival team has 5 Treasure Cards to identify.Codenames: Pictures was released in September 2016, and includes 200 two-sided cards that feature images instead of words. [2] The game uses a 5x4 grid instead of the original's 5x5, resulting in 20 cards being used at a time, but otherwise has the same rules as the original. The image cards themselves can also be combined with the word cards from the original game for a more advanced gameplay variation. The picture cards are double sided with pictures on one side and words on the other. You can choose which side of the cards that you want to use. Blue, Red, and Neutral Cover Cards are as usual except more are needed. You’ll now have to guess correctly eight or nine times depending on when you start! Codenames: Disney can be played either with a 'family' 4x4 grid, excluding the assassin, or a typical 5x5 grid exactly like the original Codenames. Fiona’s Final Thoughts
