This face-melting concotion is even hotter than my Psycho Juice 70% Ghost Pepper. With its mind-blowing heat and flavour from the infamous Trinidad Scorpion pepper, this is without doubt the condiment of choice for the serious, hardcore chillihead. Each level starts with a base peanut made using a dose of Carolina Reaper to establish consistent flavor and heat. Then we perform 5 additional steps to make each level unique and progressively hotter with a load of the world’s hottest peppers. All small-batch and handcrafted to ensure consistency and quality. We have also loaded each challenge with enough super-hot peanuts for 1-3 players. There are no distractions by means of superfluous, fancy-pants, look-how-clever-I-am ingredients. Less is more.

I’m Dr. Burnörium and for me to put my name, not to mention my gorgeous fizzog, on the label you can be sure that Psycho Juice is something special and has exceeded even my expectations. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to my emporium. From the deepest depths of the foundations, right up to the gargoyle sat atop the attic room, it has been built with an absolute burning passion for fiery flavour. I live it, I breathe it, I love it and I very much look forward to sharing it with you. Don’t be shy. Come on in and close the door behind you. There’s nothing to fear. Nobody’s going to hurt you. Unless of course, that’s the real reason you’re here. Nowadays a method known as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is used to measure the pungency of peppers. The Death Nut: 3-X Carolina Reaper + 2-X Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Peppers, 7-Pot Primo Pepper & 16 million Scoville Capsaicin Crystals I sometimes get a sideways glance from Mrs Burnörium when I sprinkle Psycho Spice on my Sunday lunch but she knows, to me, food without fire is just plain boring.

I’ve personally tasted every single product I sell. I use and enjoy them on a daily basis so you can rest-assured that if it’s in my emporium it’s the very best of the best. Whether you’re a seasoned chillihead or a reluctant chilli-virgin I have something for you that will blow your mind, set your taste buds alight and banish the bland from your life forever. I invite the chillihead, the thrill-seeker, the adventurer, the intrepid, the macho, the mischievous, the enlightened, the curious, the compulsive, the slightly nervous and even the downright petrified to join me as we descend the stone steps that lead us deep into the fiery bowels of my emporium. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Burnörium, proprietor of Dr. Burnörium’s Hot Sauce Emporium and purveyor of the world’s finest fiery products. At the other end of the scale, the Red Savina Habanero pepper has a rating of 350,000 – 580,000 Scovilles which means its extract has to be diluted by at least 350,000 times before the capsaicin can no longer be detected. The active component in chilli peppers is a substance called capsaicin which is found predominantly in the membranes and placental tissue which holds the seeds but, contrary to popular belief, not the actual seeds themselves.

Despite looking a bit like Tintin with a dead rat on his top lip, good old Wilbur was undoubtedly a top bloke, but the biggest flaw in his method of testing was the fact that it relied on human subjectivity and, as we know, we’re all different and what’s hot to one is not necessarily hot to another. The Scientific Bit In 1912 an American chemist by the name of Wilbur Scoville set about finding the answer to this very question and the test he devised was known as the Scoville Organoleptic Test. So, the hotter the food, the more endorphins released and the better you feel. Simple. But how hot is hot? Most importantly, as with all my Psycho Juice sauces, it actually tastes of the most important ingredient, the star of the show, the whole damned point of a hot sauce, namely the chilli pepper itself. It is this that also gives chilli its addictive quality. You remember the good feeling and actively crave more of the same.

This was the perfect combo! If you want to make your curry vindaloo heat like I did, you will want to be careful how much you add. There’s good reason for this and, for those of us who enjoy eating fiery foods, the reason is obvious. It makes us feel better. If you’ll just allow me a Stephen Fry moment I’ll try and explain why. The test consisted of diluting chilli pepper extract with sugar syrup until the heat was no longer detectable to a panel of tasters. The degree of dilution then gave its measure on the Scoville Scale.Over time your tolerance to the heat builds and you turn to even hotter foods to give you the same feeling. I add some kind of chilli, whether it be hot sauce, dry spice or fresh peppers, to every single meal I eat. In accordance with Health & Safety Executive guidelines please take your time and tread carefully. Overexcitement whilst walking down steps can lead to accidents. Your brain responds by releasing endorphins which are natural painkillers that resemble opiates in the way that they produce a sense of well being and euphoria.
