About this deal

Michael Kilgarriff, who played K1 in the television story Robot, reprised his role for the audio adventure The Relics of Jegg-Sau.

Doctor Who / Robot (DVD). London, England, UK: BBC Video. 2007. ISBN 9781419858604. OCLC 156824505.

In the original Japanese, his name is written as キーボ but romanized "Ki-Bo", although the correct pronunciation for キーボ is actually "Kiibo", as "ー" is used in Japanese to denote a prolonged vowel. If his name's spelling is adjusted to actually be pronounced "Ki-Bo", it could be spelt as キボー (Kibō), which is a pun on the word 希望 (kibō) meaning hope. Within me, I have a strong desire to feel like everyone else. To be able to say with pride...that I'm friends with you and everyone else here."

Disintegrator Ray: The Disintegrator Gun is stolen not as an end in itself, but merely for the villains to break into a safe and steal what they're really after. In the final battle with the robot however it's used purely as a weapon. We don't need your rules anymore! We'll find our own reasons to live! And we'll do whatever it takes to survive!" The mysteries were all fiction in the first place. All scripted. Whenever I was in trouble, my inner voice would always guide me. That guidance is what brought me here. I don't believe that's a mistake. So...I will trust it. Please...tell me. Tell me what I should do. Please, tell me your decision." K1-B0, along with Maki Harukawa and Kaito Momota, was one of the first new characters revealed for Danganronpa V3 in November 2015 and he was speculated as a possible main character. However, their names and talents weren't revealed until ten months later in September 2016.

Eventually, the Doctor's random babbling and memory lapses subside long enough for him to remember what's going on — and just long enough for the Brigadier to tell the Doctor our problem of the week. Someone's stealing things from top-secret government and military bases. After the Doctor decides on his new outfit, they head outside. At the scene of the most recent break-in, it takes the Doctor a few minutes (and a look at the list of other items stolen) to deduce that the stolen items could make... a disintegrator gun! In the end of the class trial in Chapter 4, K1-B0 was very angry when he found out that Kokichi was the one who manipulated Gonta into killing Miu. The K1 robot costume was designed by one of the series' regular costume designers at the time, James Acheson, and built by sculptor [4] Allister Bowtell. [5] Conception and writing

Why are you surprised? Simply going through the motions would be dishonest. We must love each other unconditionally... We must understand each other completely... We must go on dates, grow even closer... And then, we must commit our lives to each other! Gh—! Wh-What do you mean, "normal"!? What do you know about robots!? The meaning of "normal" is purely subjective anyway! Don't assume your definition of normal is the same as mine!" So you've come to talk to me again... You must be very fascinated by me, Shuichi. That is understandable. In all the world, there is no other robot as impressive as I am." In his Free Time Events, K1-B0 reveals that he used to have a "past life" when he didn't develop correctly, suddenly went rogue and seriously injured the professor. He felt massive guilt and sadness as a result, his AI suddenly resetting as if committing suicide. K1-B0 has no memories of this and believes he must have wanted to be reborn as the professor's child. In his Harmonious Heart event, it's shown that K1-B0 still feels guilty and thinks the professor might resent him because of the incident. I may be a robot, but the thought of my friends dying still fills me with sadness. I don't want anyone else to feel this way! So...I will abandon hope!"

UNIT charges in to save the day, only to be rendered useless by the fact that the slow-moving robot can't be hurt by small-arms fire. And that they're now holding Sarah Jane hostage, despite the fact that they have clear shots at everyone else in the organization who poses a threat (well, they have the place surrounded, anyway- no need for unnecessary casualties when you can round up the crooks in cuffs). But the Think Tank is able to escape to their bomb shelter, which happens to be right nearby. Harry relays this information to the Brigadier, but is discovered by Jellicoe and imprisoned alongside Sarah Jane. As UNIT approaches, the K1 Robot comes out again. It's brandishing its massive disintegrator gun and shooting at random tanks, declaring that it will destroy them all! In the English localization, the spelling of his name is changed to "K1-B0", a naming convention which is a reference to the names of robot characters in the Star Wars franchise such as R2-D2 and C-3P0. Although he states his name is pronounced "K-One-B-Zero", K1-B0 prefers people to pronounce it "Keebo", maintaining the original Japanese "kibō" pun. Following his regeneration, the Fourth Doctor becomes delirious and falls unconscious in front of Sarah Jane Smith and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. The Doctor tries to sneak off in his TARDIS, but the Brigadier and Sarah stop him, convincing him to help in finding the culprit in the theft of top secret plans for a disintegrator gun. This was the first Doctor Who serial to have its location material shot entirely on videotape using outside broadcasting facilities, as opposed to the more usual BBC television drama practice of the time of shooting studio interiors on videotape and location exteriors on 16 mm film. This was due to the large number of video effects involving the eponymous robot required in exterior scenes (shot at the then BBC Engineering Training Department at Wood Norton, Worcestershire [2] [15]), which were easier and more convincing to marry to videotape than to film. The team had learned that lesson during the previous season's Invasion of the Dinosaurs. The Wood Norton facility was chosen for location shooting because it had an underground bunker, which director Christopher Barry felt would be suitable for the entrance to the underground complex in the story; however, they were refused permission to shoot in that area. [15] Broadcast and reception Episode Are you implying... that I can't die because I'm a robot!? That's the most robophobic thing that I've ever heard!"

Robosen, a company specialising in bringing advanced consumer robots into people’s homes, sent us their K1 PRO Interstellar Scout to test. Would this incredibly advanced piece of technological wizardry win over our tester, who’s been fascinated by robots for more than forty years?

K1-B0 was created by Team Danganronpa as the role for the "audience participation" and the eyes of the outside world.
