Description

To get around this you can apply what’s known as a pre-stain sealer or sanding sealer. This effectively helps to seal the surface and any open grains to give you a much more even finish. If you try to apply a shade of stain or dye that’s lighter than the finish that’s already on there, the existing finish will over power it. A Medium Oak Wood Stain is known to have a lighter natural brown undertone to it. Although we don’t have a Medium Oak Wood Stain in our range, we would recommend our Natural Oak Wood Stain as a great alternative.

The grain patterns in oak wood vary significantly, ranging from straight and uniform to wild and pronounced. These unique characteristics make oak an excellent choice for staining and finishing, adding depth and dimension to the overall appearance. One more thing: be sure to use a pre-stain conditioner of the same brand as the stain to avoid incompatibilities. All said, when applying the second coat, keep an even and gentle touch while applying the stain, ensuring you cover the entire surface with an even coat. Again, the idea is to get uniform coverage on your oak wood. This is a dark stain – but if you are looking for a deep, rich color, this is a really great option.

3 A. Applying a new Coat of Wood Stain the Same Tone or Darker than the Existing Stain

This is an excellent, semi-transparent product for staining red oak surfaces. Its warm red undertones complement the natural beauty of red oak, providing a light to medium color that enhances the wood grain.

We would always recommend that you test the different shades of Oak Wood Stain on a small area of the wood, before staining the entire piece. For this, our Wood Stains are available in small 15ml tester pots so you can make sure you are happy before purchasing larger sizes. About our Wood Stain. There’re two main ways to ensure your stained oak wood is darker. First, you can choose a dark stain for oak, which will ensure the wood gets the deep color you desire. If the stain is oil-based, then use paint thinner as well as rubbing alcohol. Also, try using ammonia if necessary. This will help remove any residue from the old finish so that you can start with a clean slate.Rather than being a liquid or powder, this is a reusable cloth that comes in a sealed plastic bag and is treated with a special formula. It has a slightly oily feel to it thanks to the natural oils impregnated into the cloth. This stain is rated with a very low V.O.C, comes in over 15 colours and is available in sample pots. So you can be 100% certain you’ve got the perfect colour for your timber. As well as embellishing the complexion of your timber, wood stain also helps preserve the grain of the wood.
