On-Line Data Interchange (OLDI) is a protocol for co-ordination and transfer of current flight data between adjacent air traffic control units. Its development started in the 1990s in Europe. The AFTN uses two types of aeronautical fixed stations - AFTN communication centres and AFTN stations. The AFTN communication centre is an AFTN station whose primary function is to relay AFTN messages to or from a number of other interconnected AFTN stations.

AFTN Addresses
OpenLDI is based on the FPD-Link specification, which was the de facto standard for transferring graphics and video data through notebook computer hinges since the late 1990s.
