Vox V847A: Updated version of the classic model, including SMD resistors and an additional input buffer stage. The frequency range of the wah (frequencies in which the wah can be varied) has been set lower, with the gain boosted and the Q-value (the sharpness of the wah’s peak) adjusted to deliver a powerful sound with a low centre of gravity. This apparent magnitude of the cap C2 reactance magnitude depends on the gain of the signal of the first stage. The gain of the first stage is determined by the position of the slider VR1: The second stage is an emitter follower workingas a low output impedance amplifier of approximately unity gain:

Dunlop’s CAE Wah even features both red and yellow fasels. You’ll need to fork out more cash for these particular best wah pedals, but they produce a sweeter, mellower voice than the more aggressive sweep of many modern designs.

The circuit is built using 2 cascaded transistor stages with a couple of passive components and an inductor; this reduced design makes the power consumption below 1mA. R2'= R2 can be considered as connected to ground, as it is indeed attached to the Q2 emitter that has a very low output impedance. The emitter resistor R 4 controls the gain level of the effected signal. Reducing its value will result in a slight addition of gain and bass content.
