So begins one of the twistiest mysteries I’ve read, the plotting is simply superb, to the point that telling you anything specific might well ruin the many many moments where you’ll stop briefly to turn things over in your head. The writing as always is spot on immersive, Tim Weaver has that intuitive, creative ability to character build and set the scene so that you sink into it, every moment a pure joy to read. Tim Weaver is a master of the crime genre. You'll be gripped by the intricate plotting and whiplash- inducing twists. I couldn't look away' GILLY MACMILLAN Tim Weaver is the bestselling author of the David Raker missing persons series and the standalone thriller, Missing Pieces. His novels have twice been selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club, and his work has been nominated for a National Book Award.

Rebekah is trapped on Crow Island and is 101 miles from the US mainland. Much of the island was destroyed by Hurricane Gloria in 1987 and has few facilities. How and why is she trapped? Meanwhile, soon to be retired Detective Frank Travis is searching for missing artist Louise Mason. How do these seemingly disparate stories connect? The story is told in different timelines principally by Rebekah and Travis. I actually didn't think anything could surpass my previous experience here but this managed to surpass it and then some, I am super impressed. But whatever the reason, I found it increasingly difficult to maintain any constant level of interest. I struggled to finish, and once I had, felt relieved to have done so.Although most of the story is about David Raker`s investigation into Richard`s past interspersed throughout the book are chapters about step sisters Penny and Beth and their misadventures at The Brink,a creepy, isolated area in the hills near their home.Who are the step sisters and are they in any way connected to Richard`s mysterious missing past?. This thrilling read has kept me guessing from the moment I started reading. The style in which Weaver writes has this wonderful eb and flow that just draws you in but the speed at which events unfold is relentless so be prepared, you need to sit up and pay attention. I would like to thank Netgalley and Penguin UK - Michael Joseph for an advance copy of I am Missing, the eighth novel to feature missing person detective David Raker.

The then lets us know Rebekah's current relationship, stressors, family life, the now is her trying to survive on a deserted island, harsh elements, loneliness. There are twists, timeline jumps, little nuggets *missing pieces* of information as you delve further into the story. Having read and reviewed so many of Raker books it is hard to come up with new words to describe the excellent characters that Weaver writes. Raker is certainly one of my few favourite UK characters these days and remains very good. The other characters are well worked in the main - you even get a reasonable feel for some of the people who are missing. Briefly - Classic Raker/Weaver so the 4.5/5 is happily rounded up. Loved the ending and laughed aloud...Chasing the Dead – Tim Weaver – Penguin Books". Penguin.co.uk. 7 July 2011 . Retrieved 1 September 2013. I am a relatively new reader of this author after I requested the previous book in this series without realising it was part of an ongoing series. Grips like a vice and twists like a rollercoaster. Impossibly clever. Impossible to put down' CHRIS WHITAKER Weaver has written a multi-layered thriller which shows how far people will go to hide the truth, and how greed can corrupt all. Sometimes it can be hard to discover who is not a victim in this story, but it does become clear, eventually. Louise Mason, Johnny's ex girlfriend disappeared without a trace just before Johnny and "Bek' go to Crow Island. Johnny is the main suspect of her disappearance, so when they then both go missing detective Frank Travis is assigned to the case, but he is due to retire within the next week. He wants to solve the case before he retires and he knows that he is Louise’s only hope of being found alive or dead.

The complex character throughout the series, David Raker, is charged with the responsibility of investigating the case. Just like Tim, David Raker is a former journalist. We learn that he left his job to nurse his ailing wife, who finally dies. David is reluctant to take the task of investigating Alex Towne’s disappearance, but remembering the loss of his own, he finally agrees, and this signifies the beginning of trouble for him. I called you,' he said, 'because I know that you find missing people. That's what you do, and that's ... well, that's what I need.' He stopped, swallowed hard. 'Someone's missing, and I need you to find them.' I thought the premise of this book was definitely very interesting. At the same time, I thought how on earth is he going to make sense of this weird disappearance? I mean, it's very difficult to find a logical reason, why anyone would abduct all 9 people, plus it's not an easy job to do.MISSING by Tim Weaver on iTunes". itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/missing/id1034408710?mt=2 . Retrieved 2 September 2015. So for those who don’t already know, David Raker is a Missing Persons Investigator and this is the 10th book about him. But you don’t need to read the previous books to enjoy this one; I think I’ve read the first four and then couldn’t resist this one via the library. It could easily be read as a standalone so don’t let the series tag put you off as No One Home is an addictively gripping read! What follows is an intricate mix of police procedural and psychological thriller with plenty of juicy red herrings thrown along the way. Each problem solved seems to engender two new ones. It is impossible not to get caught up in the various dilemmas surrounding the two very likeable protagonists.
