There was a lot of intrigue going on and the smut made my pussy throb and my sheets soaked. I couldn’t stop reading it chapter after chapter. If it wasn’t for my new meds, I would’ve finished the book in 2 days. LIES. I’m scared and you should be too. Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. This one did cure my reading slump. The reason I give it four stars instead of five is cause of the gun play scene, which was a bit much😅 UNKNOWN: Sneaking off with random men, little mouse? If I catch his hands anywhere near you, they’ll end up in your mailbox by morning.As an avid romance reader, this one was bound to fall short for me. Although it continues to fall under the dark romance category, it was more of a thriller. This book will be much more enjoyable to those who enjoy majority of a thriller element than romance. The trigger warnings are so so heavy on this one (will be mentioned at the end of the review). Although the author warned, I somehow didn't expect it to be so much darker than the first one. I wanted to throw up, cried at some of the scenes and was truly horrified and disgusted. But I applaud the author for having the heart and stomach to write it. It couldn't have been easy. The utterly raw and realistic scenes that take place in the book are not meant for the weak hearted.

Maybe this is just me, but I like fictional men because they treat their girls right. Leon is a great example of "I hate everyone but you", but this dude is just hating her and treating her like absolute garbage. Me personally, I don't find that so cute. Maybe it's just me though, idk... The main reason i am reducing one star is because the first two times they had sex, he forced himself on her. They both knew it. People excuse this by saying it was cnc and even though I never kink shame, it was just not something i could easily fathom. Not only that but he also physically abuses her by slapping and choking and etc. He also punishes her all the time for the littlest things. And never listens to what she says. Just because she came in the end doesn’t make it okay for me. But i mean she didn’t seem to mind so ig that’s what counts. To top it off we get modern references too. I don't like when authors insert modern world references into their writing. No one wants to read about Cheerios when they're reading a dark smutty romance. Idk man I prefer him in this book more than the first one. BUT I still dislike him as love interest in general. This book would have been so much better if it was a completely different story. Meaning, this book does not seem much like a sequel to the next book. I felt like I was reading two completely different stories honestly.Lastly, I did dnf this book, and I guess it is possible for it to get better (i think i heard the second book is better) but I'm really not interested in giving this book another chance. And that's ignoring the fact that this book is so unnecessarily long.
