About this deal

However, there are a number of folding helmets that have come on the market since then which beat out the Pango in most ways. Today’s folding helmets are smaller, lighter, easier to fold, and look better, so it’s no surprise that most people prefer the newer designs instead. Other Foldable Helmets (Coming Soon) The helmet features solid padding, as well as mesh where the top of your head should be. Unfortunately, it all feels incredibly cheap. Unfortunately, you won't find another foldable bike helmet for this price. Thankfully, the helmet is certified by both the US and European commissions, which means they're legal. It does have its flaws though, such as a recent Consumer Reports test that found the Morpher to be unsafe in their side impact test. You can read more about that in our in-depth review of the Morpher here. Enjoy wearing it as much as possible. If your head usually sweats when you ride or gets itchy under hats, find a helmet with more vents and one that weighs less as this will mean that you want to wear it and enjoy wearing it. Safety

The helmet’s collapsibility function is the other big selling point from Closca. The video below shows how easy the helmet is to prepare, with the size of the helmet easily compressed with your hands using the clever sliding function on the interior. The Plixi fit also offers CPSC standard protection, and rugged styling, with the hinges and connectors offering an almost military look to the helmet. The folding mechanism does add some weight over other rigid helmets, with the Plixi weighing 440 grams over most regular helmets at the ~350g mark or less. The helmet’s overall quite average. Average price, average weight, average ventilation, average portability, average ease of folding. You get the picture. It’s an average helmet. While not straight-up helmets, almost all cyborgs in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance have a face plate that snaps on over their eyes and/or mouth, Raiden included, although his can be done manually in VR Mode. The Closca Fuga has a replaceable visor that can be swapped out for a wool band that they call the “Nordic visor”, which should keep you a bit warmer in the winter. Also, although the helmet has decent ventilation, it is a bit covered as well, so it should be capable of keeping some warm air from escaping in the cold. However, this may change as newer folding helmets, such as the FEND, start penetrating the folding helmet market. Recommended Folding Helmets Closca Fuga As well as M.O.D.O.K., who has a large helmet instantly covering or revealing his giant head. (Well, it ain't like he could remove it with his tiny arms anyway.) The first is the comfort of the helmet. Look for vents and adjustable straps as well as wider straps with larger clips to keep them flat. Above all else, if you’re looking to buy a folding helmet that could be left in your bag, don’t give yourself a reason to leave it in your bag. In recent years we’ve seen multiple successful crowdfunding campaigns launched for foldable bike helmets. Yes, you heard me right, foldable, or collapsible, bike helmets; there are a wide variety of designs.

Consider also where you’re going to ride. If you want to ride on big main roads is this sensible to do in a lightweight small helmet or should you invest in a more sturdy, larger helmet. A Fantasy example: Zant from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. In one of the final scenes before you fight him to the death, he finally reveals his face underneath the foreboding, evil helmet... among other things. He and his helmet return in Hyrule Warriors, where his introduction and chest-opening cutscenes show it open and close.Overade Plixi folding helmet isn't designed for long commutes, so there's not much ventilation. There are 14 vents around the helmet, but they're not channeled well. It's not the worst ventilation on a bike helmet, but it's not the best. Hedkayse ONE has EN-1078 certification but not CPSC. The reason is likely that the helmet is still new to market– Hedkayse is currently working on getting CPSC approved. Downplayed to a lesser extent in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, where Ratchet's Commando helmet has a retractable oxygen mask that extends in certain locations ingame where breathable air isn't abundant, such as in the vaccum of space, underwater, and at high altitudes. Similar to the Mass Effect example, it's more through story as there's no bespoke animation for this. The helmet often seems to activate without any apparent interaction or input from the wearer; it just extends or collapses with minimal fuss whenever the situation demands. Very handy for a Dramatic Unmask.

The cycling-market is screaming out for more stylish helmets to be introduced, and this Closca helmet is certainly a step in the right direction. In the Stargate movie, the iconic, intricate Egyptian Mythology-inspired helmet/masks of the alien Horus Guards, Anubis, and Ra fold into themselves in an impressive display of digital effects. Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary: Helping Helmets Are Hardly Heroic, the helmets are retractable, so unlike the anime they can be snapped into and out of place reflexively — no need for characters to constantly have them punched off or removed. The heroes actually put them on and off at various times. Heroes or villains who avert Helmets Are Hardly Heroic still rarely want to bother about putting it on, or removing the helmet and carrying it along. For them, there's a simple solution: the Collapsible Helmet. One of the things I love about the FEND is that when you’re wearing it, the helmet is no different than any other bike helmet—there are no compromises just because it can shrink when you take it off. It has a comfortable fit and FEND says that the helmet exceeds US CPSC safety standards for bikes, skateboards and scooters traveling under 20mph. In other words, it’s just as safe as a non-folding helmet.

There is, or was at some point, someone developing a mix of a bicycle helmet and an airbag. Worn as a collar normally, when its accelerometers detected a crash or fall, it deployed an airbag-like helmet. Immortals Fenyx Rising uses a magical variant that's used for cutscenes. It's notably timed so it feels like it was always a part of the scene, such as Fenyx equipping it as she braces for the start of a battle well before the scene has actually ended.

In the second film, Whiplash's armor has a fully collapsible mask, but there's enough room in the considerably bulky suit for this to work.

Overade Plixi Fit

Kang the Conqueror also has a Power Armor including an helmet that comes and goes, with a face shield that give his face the comic-accurate blue color. The Cyclo is not yet on the market, but is expected to be the most environmentally friendly folding helmet. It is made from 100% recycled plastic, some of it taken from the ocean or landfills. And it is 100% recycleable. Also, the plastic it is made out of will likely be HDPE, rather than other types of plastics that helmets are typically made of, which are significantly harder or less cost-effective to recycle (such as EPS, ABS, and polycarbonate). Thankfully, there is a solution to this problem. Folding helmets have exploded in popularity over the past few years because people are looking for something more compact than a standard bike helmet. These helmets still offer the same cycling safety but take up only half the space.
