Description

I’ve been on a long journey trying to find my ultimate Summer, tropical vacation, suntan lotion fragrance. I’ve found it. Yes it’s simplistic in its composition, yes it’s youthful and optimistic, but at the same time it has a universal appeal that I can’t imagine anyone finding unattractive. When I first sprayed this my partner remarked it reminded him of something from childhood. Without knowing what it was it reminded him of holidays and being at the pool. So, in that respects, the name is apt and it does what it says on the tin. During the dry down he then let me know it also reminded him of those bath pearls from the 90s too (more nostalgia!). I just want to preface that the houses of Mancera + Montale are not for everyone and that’s totally fine. Yes, some of their fragrances are obnoxiously loud and sometimes a little too synthetic, but they’re made for people who want their fragrances to perform. It's a sweet scent and casual in the same time. Can be offensive for someone who doesn't like sweet perfumes. I've been told already I smell too sweet and heavy.

I own Around 23+ Mancera fragrances and all have been great except for a few because of pathetic YouTube hype.

Donna

I find all my Mancera’s /Montale’s need to sit and marinate for a while before their full potential is realised (except Red Tobacco lol) and I expect this to be the same - it smells fantastic both in the air and close to the skin, the sandalwood and coconut give such a smooth, creamy dry down - just something so yummy and moreish about this and I can’t wait for it to develop a bit more. Coconut - Vanilla - Slightly Floral. A luxury suntan lotion. A pina colada, minus the rum. It’s exactly as advertised.

They both dry down to a sweet, vanilla with a splash of the synthetic coconut. If I had to choose I’d say Holidays smells fresher and less synthetic in the dry down. But the coconut and vanilla they use are clearly the same in each and these dominate. This is my first review on the forums, as I've lurked for long enough I felt it was time to add my input somehow. I guess I'm coming in hot with my take on this scent. That being said, Holidays is another coconut-sunscreen scent on the market. But what sets it apart from other sunscreen scents that I’ve tried is the seawater note in this. It’s cuts through all the sweetness of the coconut, vanilla, tiaré, and just the overall sweetness of this scent, and makes it different enough from Coco Vanille by Mancera and other scents in this category. To compare it to Soleil Blanc, Terracotta, Bronze Goddess, etc. isn’t right because none of those have that aquatic, salty note in them. Summarizing, this perfume is creamy and vanillic throughout, with a fruity opening, a jasmine middle, and a banana-vanilla milkshake finale. Holidays is without a doubt my favourite tropical/coconut summer fragrance. It has a scent profile that's been done so many times by so many brands that it's no longer unique or even special, but to me, this fragrance manages to stand out among all other due to its' performance and the true tropical vibe it gives.

Edit: 4 hours after spraying and Coco Vanille is warmer and a bit heavier than Holidays. It’s also sweeter in the usual vanilla kind of way. Holidays is fresh and light. An absolute contender for best summer fragrance in my collection - and I have well over a hundred perfumes. Upon first application, and first smell, I was immediately taken to the middle of the pottery barn candle section. I couldn't understand, I thought surely this fragrance that is supposed to smell tropical-ish or summery to others should smell Wonderfull. So I smell again, again, and let it sit for a few hours, the entire time I literally feel like I'm wearing the scented candle section of a store marketed to American middle-age suburban women. Now if that's your thing, and I understand it may be for some then go for it, cause clearly those candles sell, but if you're like me and can't for the love of god ever understand why scented candles are a thing or even exist then I don't think you'll like this one. Leans more femine but hell IF A MAN WORE THIS id want to lean in closer, would smell gorgeousss and comforting and delicious on a man.

I don't think this even leans feminine, I personally love "feminine" fragrances, and I don't think this fragrance has a sex at all. I think its literally a scented candle, and scented candles are inanimate objects with no life or soul, just like this fragrance. It is unisex slightly leaning towards women, better suited for cold or mild weather, and preferably for daytime. For me it is too sweet for warm weather, and quite light and airy for nighttime. The perfect way to describe this is to my nose is imagine a used cigarette ashtray and someone just sprayed a floral perfume into it and let it soak in with the left over cigarette ash that’s exactly what I get in the opening. I have no idea why I am getting that kind of a vibe because I don’t detect any Oud, insense, or tobacco notes. The opening is veryyyy similar to Rasasi shurah IMO. Maybe the way the florals and fruit in this fragrance are not blended correctly. Terrible mixture of notes that can’t coexist. It’s not a marriage of notes it’s a divorce. SEASONS: Winter, spring, fall, colder days, daytime, nighttime, and climate-controlled environments. Unlike others, I don't get a sunscreen vibe from this. I have a number of vanilla and coconut fragrances and I think this is different. I don't think it's similar to Coco Vanille and I prefer Coco Vanille. This is an atypically light scent for mancera, so don’t go for this if you’re looking for a strong, beast mode fragrance. It does have decent silage, whilst feeling more like a skin scent, due to its light and delicate character and transparency. I absolutely adore it! It’s very wearable without ever being boring. Coconut and Vanilla is one of my all time favorite scent combos and I'm forever on the hunt for a replacement for my beloved and now discontinued Fragonard Miranda. I'm a firm believer that coconut and vanilla can be year round scents, but there's a brightness to Coco Vanille that pushes it more into the tropical and spring/summer/fall category for me vs being a true year rounder. With Holidays, I am getting the same vibe but less artificial. Been wearing all day and it has lasted on me all day for over 10 hours now. But also, I am an over sprayer (12+ sprays usually, judge me...I don't care!) and the Mancera quality and formula really makes it last and go a long way.

Holidays is a calming, simple scent that grows on you. On first sniff, it does smell a bit like a basic air freshener, but throughout the day, it transforms into a warm, smooth, sweet delight. It reminds me of lazy summer afternoons at the beach. Tiare flower and vanilla are the most prominent notes; I barely detect coconut. I don't notice the sea notes on clothes, but the dry down on the skin is definitely a "salt left on the skin after a swim in the ocean" vibe. Holidays is a floral feminine aromatic. I get a heavily sweetened tiare flower, jasmine, and coconut cream as the primary attributes here. The jasmine is clearly distinguishable, although it isn't listed anywhere. The orientation here is strongly feminine, and the fragrance projects quite strongly for a few hours. However, Vanille exclusif is easily a trash fragrance from Mancera. Thank god I only bought a 5ml decant of this from scentsplit.com, Even though this fragrance is unisex. I wouldn’t wear this crap or like to smell this on a female. Tl:Dr - This is sophisticated, but I was expecting something different. A less-soapier and slightly more feminine version of Montale's 'Sensual Instinct'. It reminds me somewhat of Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo and Volo AZ 686, but certainly is not a near-match for either. It's just composed in a similar way in terms of the fresh citrus/vanilla in Dulcis and white floral/citrus/musk in Volo.
