Although it may not seem critical, the more times you have to either empty a canister or replace a dust bag the more time and money, in the case of bagged vacuums, it will cost you. It can also be just one more thing you have to do before you can get cleaning which could put you off cleaning entirely. The relatively new innovation to Shark's portfolio is Flexology which allows the wand to go from straight to angled, is a feature which we highly rate. It means that you can get your vac under the beds and various items of furniture that are raised up on legs. What we found, however, is that the floorhead wasn’t as easy to direct accurately as is the case when it’s used with the rigid wand.

Make sure you put it in hard floor mode for maximum performance though. This slows down the brush bars, which reduces the chances of scattering. There’s no option to completely turn off the brush bar, however, which we think is a strange oversight. Stairs This design feature is a welcome addition, but it can’t match a HEPA filter for filtration. If you have a dust or pet allergy, look for a vacuum with a HEPA filter and a bagged design. This is the “True Pet” version of the NZ801UKT series, which means the vacuum comes with a dedicated pet tool. Let’s take a closer look at this vacuum’s features to find out whether it’s worthy of a place on our list of the best upright vacuums. Shark NZ801UKT Appearance, Features & Design She also loved the portable vacuum cleaner element that is accessible with just the push of a button. This is thanks to Powered Lift-Away which is super handy for using the suite of attachments to refresh upholstery or vacuum skirting boards.

There’s no option to adjust the suction power though. We think this is a shame, as having multiple suction settings can be useful when switching surfaces. Let’s take a look at how the vacuum performs on various types of floor. Carpets The 0.8 litre dust capacity is also relatively small. For comparison, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 has a 1.8 litre capacity, while the Shark NV601UKT provides 1.65 litres. The easy-to-empty design makes this less of an issue, but be prepared to empty the NZ801UKT regularly when cleaning your home. Shark NZ801UKT Tools & Accessories Both models come with a surface switch which will allow you to go from hard floor to carpet as necessary. In the hard floor setting which can also be used for small area rugs or delicate carpets, the brush-roll will still spin but at a slower speed. One of the attachments which comes with this Shark vacuum is the pet tool. As with many of the best vacuum cleaners for pet hair, it's was excellent at drawing out embedded hair from rugs, blankets and anywhere else your four-legged-friend likes to reside. Overall, this is a strong contender for those looking for a large capacity Shark vacuum that they can rely on. As mentioned earlier, the NZ801UKT comes with Shark’s DuoClean floorhead. Aside from having two brush bars, there’s the option of switching between carpet and hard floor modes, which affects the speed of the rotating bars.

Shark claims that it has all the power of a corded vacuum cleaner but in cordless form, and after testing we couldn't agree more. It's got DuoClean which makes switching modes immensely straightforward, and the controls make it easy to see how much battery you have left. To charge, simply lift out the battery on the side of the dust tank and pop it into its charging port. The NZ801UKT is part of Shark’s DuoClean range. This refers to the floorhead, which has two motorised rotating brush rolls. The first is a softer brush roll that’s designed for hard floors, while the bristle brush is excellent for digging deeper into carpets. It comes with a price tag comparable to a Dyson but it's brimming with great features such as the anti-hair wrap and powered lift away pod, so you should be getting high quality along with the higher price. The handle is comfortable to hold, even during long cleaning sessions. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to adjust the height of the grip. This could be an issue if you’re taller or shorter than average, although for most people we think the handle is at a suitable position. I love how versatile it is so you can use it how you like - whether you want to push an upright vacuum cleaner, lift off the lightweight, detachable pod and still use the wand and floorhead, or use the handle with the smaller attachments.

How much is the Shark Classic Anti Hair Wrap Upright Vacuum NZ801UK?

The Shark NZ801UKT is an upright vacuum that’s designed to handle everything from small dust particles to pet hair. It’s a corded model, so it provides consistent suction without worrying about battery life, while the lift-away design provides more mobility when cleaning awkward locations. For non-allergy sufferers, however, the NZ801UKT does a good enough job at retaining dust and other particles. Shark NZ801UKT Emptying & Cleaning We really like to get a hands-on experience with the products which we feature across Ideal Home, in line with our testing protocol. It means that we get tounderstand more about whatyouare getting for your money. A bonus is that the 2-in-1 tool and upholstery brush have on-board storage, which ensures they’re always available and less likely to get lost. It performed excellently in our at-home tests, and the new detection features go a long way to improve day-to-day vacuuming sessions. I'm a huge fan of the stand system too, even though it comes at an additional price, and would be keen to try out the self-emptying bin system next, which seems like a lifesaver.

We think it’s hard to overstate how much more convenient the lift-away design is compared to a traditional upright vacuum. Cleaning stairs and cars, in particular, becomes safer and easier, as you can hold the canister in one hand while cleaning with the other. LiftAwayoffers a removable central canister that can be lifted around to clean stairs and upholstery. This makes is easier to access tough spots, even cars. How does the Shark’s cleaning performance compare with other upright vacuums though? And is it worth the price? Read our in-depth Shark NZ801UKT review to find out. Overview of the Shark NZ801UKT Multiple attachments and accessories: This Shark vacuum cleaner is incredibly versatile and as well as lifting away the main unit you can detach the floorhead and clean up high with the wand or add any accessory to the handle for stairs and sofas. A minor downside is the bulky dust canister on the front of the machine. When you’re not in lift-away mode, this can make it difficult to clean under furniture. Hard Floors There's no doubt that our testing process proved that this vacuum is worth the large price tag that it carries. Even if you don't have pets, the ease with which this vacuum does away with hair is astounding, and our Ecommerce Editor Molly found that it was unmatched when it came to suction. Anti Hair Wrap Technology: The bristle guard removes hair from the brush roll as you clean - ideal for houses with lots of pet hair to vacuum up. There's also a special pet-hair attachment to remove pet hair from carpets and sofas.
