Go ahead and explore this upside-down world map for a few minutes. It will probably feel a little strange. A more accurate depiction is the Gall-Peters projection, which shows the equal and true areas of countries but includes some of the shape distortions involved in mapping a globe. The vast majority of the land is in the Northern Hemisphere (more than 67%). This becomes very clear with the South-Up map, as all of the land seems to be bunched near the bottom of the map. Furthermore, even the southern continents of South America, Africa, and Australia are not very south at all. They all lie almost entirely within the tropics. The "southern" continent of Africa is actually mostly in the NOTHERN hemisphere. Perspective games are a way to invert the internal mental maps that you’ve built up over your lifetime. Note: I would have preferred to show you google maps upside down but it was easier to achieve using OpenStreetMap. Google remains a north-hemisphere centric company.
