Similarly to the Disney animation the story began with the brief narration of how and why the Beast earned his monstrous appearance. This was beautifully illustrated with still images viewed behind a transparent curtain. A curtain, that in fact, was a clever means of subtly dividing this artistic introduction from the story plot. Stage Manager and Crew– Stage manager and crew, ‘take a bow’, you deserve it.Your manipulation of this set of complex scenery was well worked. Scene changes were swift and silent eliminating those ‘pregnant pauses’ which so often happens with sets of this nature – Congratulations.

It was clear and concise so that every word could be heard and which set the scene for the delights which followed. Inside Out: Joy • Sadness • Anger • Disgust • Fear • Bing Bong • Frank and Dave • Forgetters • Jangles • Rainbow Unicorn What's more, there's baffling legerdemain on show that can be hard to fathom. Blink and you'll miss the Beast's transformation, arrows pinging across the stage and quite how Iesa Miller's Chip can fit into a tea trolley with none of his body visible. It's classic stagecraft but Beauty And The Beast has borrowed from the big screen, superstar magic and state-of-the-art FX alike to dazzle the audience. The work of illusion master Jim Steinmeyer, A/V man Darrel Maloney and designer Stanley A Meyer combine to spectacular effect. Marvel Comics: A Chance For Romance • Wardrobe's Big Surprise • The Wishful Walk • Almost Amour! • Lyrical Love Part 1 and 2 • Dove Tales Part 1 and 2Although not really a character, in the ABC series Once Upon a Time, Chip is referenced as a chipped teacup. This cup is Rumplestiltskin's most prized possession, as a memento of his true love Belle. In the Enchanted Forest, the cup was chipped when Belle dropped it after she got unnerved from Rumplestiltskin's quip about skinning children, Belle keeping it despite the damage on the grounds that something shouldn't be thrown away just because it was broken, with the idea behind this statement inspiring much of Gold's later attempts to overcome his own darker nature to be with Belle. After Queen Regina claimed that Belle had committed suicide, he took the chipped cup and placed it on a pedestal. On the one hand, any little one who loves tea parties and Beauty and the Beast is going to squee with glee when they see it and be happy, that's the truth of the matter and if you want a gift that has this response, with the right child (pretend play+ princesses/Disney fans) you'll get it and it looks a good present too for the money, stylish and of decent size. Cath Hannan–(BABETTE) – What a lovely, flirtatious ‘French Maid’ Cath made. Her movements were exactly right for the role with a well maintained French accent throughout the performance all aided by a first class costume. With high expectations, I was seriously routing for the Sainsbury Singers stage adaptation, to be a thumbs up at The Hexagon last Wednesday night.
