Watching him nurture her care for her support her protect her- those all encompassing hugs when she was smol just hit different 🥹🔫However, compassion has no place in the Kejari. A war brews within the House of Night, shattering every certainty Oraya held about her world.

For me, Vincent was that person. Even when I had no one else, I had him, and I knew beyond any doubt in this world or the next that he would do literally anything for me. Have I told you that this man is perfect and I love him and even though he seems dangerous and violent but he has such a sweet and a soft side which he shows only to Miche and Oraya. I loved his protective side as much as I love seeing his brutal one. He is just perfect and everytime he says "There she is." to Oraya my heart melts 💗🫠 His character has intrigued me a lot since the starting and there's so much we have to know about him and I can't wait. Overall, 'The Serpent and the Wings of Night' is an average read for me. I'm unsure if I will continue with the second book in the series. Detailed Summary of The Serpent and the Wings of Night plot: this was the hunger games meets Underworld. from the world building to the lush writing, nothing was a miss to my eyes. from characters i’d literally move continents for to a slow burning romance that ached me to the core. the plot was giving as much as the romance. and we got enough of both.🫠

The worldbuilding in 'The Serpent and the Wings of Night' is truly exceptional, especially for a romantasy genre. The portrayal of vampires as bloodthirsty savages, willing to go to extreme lengths, even destroying their own families to maintain power, is what captivated me the most about this book. I let out a breath through clenched teeth. Yes, Vincent would call me foolish if I was refusing to protect myself for no good reason. And he’d be right for it, too. My brain during the last couple chapters: 🫨🫨🫨🫨😵‍💫😵‍💫😭🔫🫣🤣😭🤬🥹💔🔪🤞 they had me crying screaming howling dying on repeat it was madness. I wanted him to wake up from death and be like “I wish for Oraya to be my coriatae” likeeeeeee??? Imagine how that would’ve been such a pretty ending ???! BAM. Oraya is vampire and immortal. BAM. Vincent would be alive. Slap in some Vincent x Raihn war scene where they hug it out. then Raihn becomes his son in law likeeeee cmon. Add a couple chapters of bonding time and we’re golden! Everyone’s happy!! Carissa u really missed out on this smh.Strange, that it was these starving humans, not the vampire, that turned me from the hunter to the hunted. There are three vampire Houses: the House of Night, the House of Shadow, and the House of Blood (nobody really likes the House of Blood though). Wings first. Two slashes, one through each—enough to keep him from flying. With Hiaj vampires, that was easy. The membranous skin was delicate as paper. Sometimes I would catch Rishan vampires instead, and that was a bit more challenging—their feathered wings were harder to puncture—but I had refined the technique. This step was important, and that was why it came first. I needed to keep them here on the ground with me. I made the mistake of skipping it once, and almost didn’t survive to learn the lesson. Part of Oraya’s journey was realizing that even though she loved Vincent, she knows he is not a good man. These conflicting feelings made the story more compelling.
