Darts with magnetic tips will usually not damage your walls, although they might leave a mark or two on it. In fact, cork is an excellent material that you can use for surrounding your dartboard. It is not too hard, and it will not be hurting the tips of the darts. Darts can create small holes in it, so you need to understand the risks when you use the flooring as a protection layer between the dartboard and the wall.Cardboard is definitely not going to be the be-all and end-all solution for the safety of your walls, but it can work.

Most surrounds are only a few inches wide, so the protection they offer is limited. They should not be dismissed because of this limitation. If you are a player of even moderate skill level, you know it is not often you miss the board, and only minimal protection is required. Styrofoam which is also known as Polystyrene foam which is frequently used for its cushioning and insulation properties.

It can be caused by the dart hitting the wrong target, hitting a person, or even throwing the dart. This can lead to feelings of anger, frustration, and even sadness. I know many people prefer steel-tip, especially if you play competitively so soft-tip darts might not be the best option but if you really want to prevent holes in the wall or floor – they might be the best option! Maybe not for everyone, but if you have so extra insulation lying around or have access to it, just about any type of insulation can do an adequate job of protecting your wall. Towel

You can coil the rope behind the dartboard or arrange it in any shape you like. It’s versatile and cheap. Often, you can find discarded rope locally from neighbors, thrift shops, junkyards, or construction companies. You can also buy fresh, clean rope to get a brighter, more polished appearance. While I personally have never set up any of these custom play areas, I am a big fan of them. Pallets These are two summarised options covering the basics of what you need to do to protect your wall and floors. Below, I’ll cover the best ways to protect your wall and floor from darts. How to Protect Wall From Darts 1. Dartboard SurroundWhen throwing for a double, even an experienced player can have a jerky movement or let the dart slip. As doubles are located close to the edge of the board, it’s very easy for a stray dart to just miss the board completely. The wine barrel solution is also appropriate if you know the history of darts, which started when soldiers used to throw daggers at the tops of barrels to pass the time and improve their aim. There is something quite satisfying mixing the old with the new. You might be reading this thinking that I either have too much space or am too committed to darts to be suggesting everyone gets an oche for their home darts set up! Last, on the list is the Viper metropolitan solid wood cabinet from the manufacturer Viper by GLD Products. It offers a cabinet constructed with solid pine, which gives the dartboard long-lasting durability. The strong box joint construction also makes the cabinet door moves steady and smooth. For those that don’t want to buy a dedicated dartboard cabinet or surround, maybe you just hang your board when you’re ready to play so only want a temporary solution, there are some DIY options:

Plywood – A piece of 1m x 1m plywood or OSB sheet can be screwed into the wall and decorated to be a permanent fixture which you can then mount a dartboard onto. The best solution here is to get a 2m x 2m sheet of plywood that you can just lean on the wall behind the dartboard and then store away when not in use. This is going to be especially helpful if you are planning on buying a new dartboard that you will be placing in a new room and you want to protect the walls there. Some darts will be less damaging to your walls. The single best way to protect your wall from darts is to use a dedicated dartboard surround. A dartboard cabinet will also work well but the key thing to consider with dartboard placements is the surrounding area and the likelihood of loose darts. Any wooden planks or salvaged wood can do the job here. The planks will protect your walls from stray darts. You can use a lot of the things that you have lying around the house to protect your walls, but it is important that the material you are going to use is having some qualities. You can’t depend on your aim to be precise all the time. So, how do you protect your wall when playing darts? The floor has its own set of problems when it comes to dart damage. Floors are notoriously difficult to replace, so protection in this area should be a top priority. A very poorly thrown dart can pierce the floor—enough of these holes can cause irreparable damage and may encourage pests, collection of dirt and grime, and even speed up the deterioration of the entire section of floor.
