I didn’t know the book was set in Britain (idk how I didn’t know, the title screams it) and as a wannabe british myself, I very much enjoyed the “british atmosphere” in the book. I love british kids. Even if they are “horrid”. The making of "Glop" from "Horrid Henry and Moody Margaret" was used as a challenge between Henry and Margaret in the episode "Horrid Henry and the Secret Club" except that Margaret didn't eat the "Glop". Henry appears to have messy reddish-brown hair, pale skin, and rosy cheeks. He is of average height for his age. He usually appears to be wearing a horizontally yellow striped light blue T-shirt, blue sewn jeans, and the usual green and white shell-toe trainers with yellow laces. His pyjamas are blue, with vertical white stripes. The slippers he wears in his pyjamas have inside looks like a crocodile's face and lime green colour. Henry's next door neighbour and arch-enemy. Margaret often annoys Henry, while Henry torments Margaret by performing horrid deeds. They might deal with things, but they are still enemies. Despite the conflicts between Henry and Margaret, they seem to temporarily strike up as alliances, like in " Horrid Henry's Horrid Revenge", and on many occasions, they have been married or engaged in Henry's dreams. Sour Susan is one of Henry's arch enemies alongside Margaret due to her being the best friend of Margaret and Henry finds Susan annoying. Despite sometimes working for Henry (for revenge on Margaret), Sour Susan is the seconder of the Secret Club. Henry was once said to love Susan in a fake love letter that Perfect Peter wrote. Miss Battle-Axe is Henry's teacher who is incredibly strict. She always keeps an eye on Henry in school as he is horrid and doesn't pay attention in class. She constantly gives Henry detentions for never doing his homework and when he disrespects her lessons and they both have a strong hate on each other. However Miss Battle-Axe does appear to be proud if Henry on very rare occasions such as when he saved his younger brother (Perfect Peter) or when he delivers messages to the teachers for them after being asked too.

I remember liking this book as a kid, so I thought I’d read it again (this time in English) and ahh it was so nostalgic. Of course, older Horrid Henry fans must not miss Francesca Simon's books for older readers. She's written three in her Mortal Gods series: The Sleeping Armyand The Lost Gods, a brilliant collision of Norse myth and contemporary celebrity culture for 8-12s.Plus, set in the same world but aimed at slightly older readers is The Monstrous Child. All this is juxtaposed with Perfect Peter, the 'White-Hat' of our story. he cares for his surroundings, he does not squander his home's supply of vegetables and is rewarded by their mother with cake, But no. He does not want recognition for his actions, Peter does not desire cake. He merely wants to do good. Toys

If Dennis the Menace set the bar for comical misbehaving, then Horrid Henry smashed it to smithereens and littered his neighbor's yard with it. From a parent's standpoint, there's not much that's appealing about Henry himself. He's whiny, selfish, disrespectful, and argumentative, and he puts others out for his own gain. In fact, the only quality of the show less likable than Henry himself is his parents' blissful oblivion to his antics. All throughout the night, Peter tempts Henry, aiming to spark the fires of his once great and cavernous furnace of anger but the pit is empty. Henry does not respond. Instead he holds peace to his brother, trying to show him he is a changed man, but Peter does not believe him. No, he cannot. For in Peter's eyes only Peter is Perfect, and if one is Perfect there must be another who is horrible.

Also also, this showed me that I can in fact read physical books in English, it just depends on the book ig. And if there are pictures (which I really liked as well) On the other hand, Dad treats Henry really well in the later series and they start to have a bond which makes their relationships closer. Whereas Mum would tell Henry not to be horrid just for joking or being sarcastic which is why Henry does not get along with her, however she truly does care about her son and love him deep down.

Hobbies

Throughout the whole course of the series, Henry's best friend is Rude Ralph, which Henry has a similar personality. Ralph is the richest kid in school and lives the life of luxury that Henry dreams of having, is a member of the Purple Hand Gang and is often involved with Henry at schemes and plots. His other friends include Aerobic Al, Beefy Bert, Brainy Brian, Anxious Andrew, Weepy William and Greedy Graham.
