I do think that the revenge against Mila’s father plotline didn’t make sense, or at least the reason behind it and Mila’s captivity was flimsy. Also, the way it was solved at the end was anticlimactic. Like, all of it didn’t really amount to anything because Ronan and Mila ended up falling for each other. We could probably make do without any nefarious mob related plot. The transition from soft crush, to a captive/captor dynamic, to more was smooth, heartfelt and utterly addictive. I couldn’t get enough of the banter, chemistry and steam. Ronan & Mila were ON FIRE together.

Sasha Taylor Ph.D. couldn’t stop a spark of surprise from lighting in her eyes, and to hide the human reaction, she dropped her attention to my file resting on her lap. The blonde’s pantsuit didn’t hold a wrinkle. She’d gone to Yale and was from old money. The thirty-one-year-old was everything I looked for in a woman: intelligent, beautiful, classy. The writing here is spectacular, people, and you can definitely see how much Danielle has grown as an author. This book had more depth to it, the feels were stronger, it was just more, more, more. I’m also convinced now that this woman is incapable of writing a single bad book.

To say that this was a never ending rollercoaster would be putting it mildly. This book moved me from one place to another before giving me a chance to catch my breath. Yes it was crazy. Yes it was messed up. Yes I felt conflicted. Yes it has some questionable things. And no we’re not really complaining. Not much at least. The Russian language in this book was pretty decent if not perfect. There were a few minor inconsistencies and punctuation errors, but all the sentences in Russian sounded authentic! anyway the point is that no matter how much the hero hurts her emotionally she can't possibly keep her hands off him. the word pride isn't in her vocabulary. like even at 85% she's not even sure he even cares about her.

Gianna was looking for acceptance, for her to be seen, appreciated and loved for who she was, for her to feel worthy.I thought he was handsome. Handsome in the way rough palms muffle screams, the way people bow to kings, and most of all.. The way an angel falls from grace. And in defence of this series, TSO had a bit of an age gap. Elena was 21 to Nico's 29. But, they were in the same age group and maturity levels. in TMO Gianna and Christian had an 4 or 5 year difference I think but because Gianna was all over the place mentally, she wasn't ready for a healthy relationship until 28.

Writing a review for a book you love is the hardest thing ever. I could go on and on about how much I loved the characters, the setting, the writing, the whole thing. And while all that is true and so much more, it’s not enough at all. It's hard to put into words what this book did to me. Not only was it literally the fresh breath I needed in 2020; it was the whole freaking party. This year has been the worst book year ever (amongst other things...), I think I can count my five star reads with one hand. The year was coming to an end, and I had all my hopes set for this book, and not only were all my expectations met, they were exceeded, far more beautifully than I'd thought possible. Being completely serious here: I don't think I've ever loved anything more in my life. The other issue is the crux of the whole plot: he's kidnapped her and is holding her for bad shit. This isn't a stalker that wants to make her love him. This "oh I'm going to hurt you to get what I want, and I'll have a good time doing it." And what bothers me the most is our past two hero's in this series, Nico and Christian, very specifically protected the heroines against any possible violence. They were hard and cruel and malicious with everyone but the heroine. From The First Oblivion, I Had Already Decided That I Liked Gianna. Despite Having Grown Up In The Mafia, She Danced To Her Own Rhythm. I Really Loved Gianna, From Supporting Underdogs To The Way She Dressed (Christian Best Described One Of Her Looks As Britney Spears And Kurt Cobain’s Love Child Lol) To The Way She Interacted With Others. I'm frustrated because I waited 9 months for this book, and admittedly, I probably hyped it up too much in my mind. But based on how the previous two books went I thought Darkest Temptation would be a guaranteed win for me. My mother?” I parried with amusement. “No. Even I find incest unappealing.” Then I added, “Not to mention, not a huge fan of STDs.”

One winter night and their lives intertwine. She hates him—his stone-cold demeanor, his arrogance and too-perceptive eye—but over the years, even as their games consist of insulting each other's looks and intelligence, she begins to live to play with him.
