And it's a good thing they did, because you couldn't get a TV movie of the week out of this book. All the Towering Inferno plot elements are here -- tallest building in the world; builder's son-in-law uses substandard wiring; governor, ambassadors, senators at the dedication; breeches-bouy rescue -- but the vast majority of the book is spent ... talking. And thinking. One of the big things in this book was religion, and I feel that it was done well. One of the big things for me, was that one of the most basic premises in this book was fiction, basically the Citadel, Ruin, Sactii, and that allowed me to actually approach all the religious aspects in this book as fiction, not Christianity in general, but some of the more radical and made up views. It turned the book from possible conspiracy theory, to interesting fiction. The author put in the effort, and there were some spots where he visibly studied what he was going to talk about, especially in relation to the medical and astronomy/space telescope fields, which always adds a good element to the book. I also appreciate that Toyne's writing is PG -13 friendly and that I wouldn't be concerned handing it off to my grandchildren to read. Currently there exist five audio versions of The Dark Tower series – in English, Polish, German, French and Russian. The audio book in English published by Hodder & Stoughton features voices of George Guidall and Frank Muller [36] and has neither music nor sound effects. The audio book in German published by Deutschland Random House Audio introduces Vittorio Alfieri [37] and David Nathan [38] as the narrators. The French audiobooks are published by Éditions Gallimard and narrated by Jacques Frantz. [39]

DS Sarah Collins is tasked with a cold case. PC Lizzie Adams's willingness to do things by the book is tested. Supporting characters are walking cliches of their professions who robotically state things to illustrate how terrible they are and then vanish. All the women in this novel are of course absolutely smitten with Jade, and every colleague or superior is either immediately or eventually awed by his skill and brilliance. So I've finished the third book in the Ruin Trilogy and I will tell you'all that The Tower was every bit as good as Sanctus and The Key; not too shabby for a first time author. An officer is offered a chance to lead a big operation, but he needs to recruit a potentially reluctant team member. In the summer of 1483, two brothers were seen playing in the grounds of the Tower of London, where they’d been lodged by the King’s Council – their uncle, the future Richard III, its chief member. From there the boys seem to vanish from the historical record, and so one of the greatest and most intriguing mysteries of British history was born. Over the centuries, historians have debated tirelessly about the fate of Edward V and Richard, Duke of York: did they die in the Tower? Did they escape? Were they murdered? La Torre di Ruin è un thriller a sfondo storico/religioso che mi ha lontanamente ricordato i libri di Dan Brown. Allander, our serial killer, is scarier than scary. But not so much when you realize his fear of women coupled with a large dose of oedipal complex. And ugh those monologues! Not so hot. The Tower ranks up there as the most grizzly, gory, and disturbing. Atlasia was abused/raped as a little boy, and his mind was damaged much more than his body. The author went to extraordinary lengths to describe bloody scenes and the over-the-top horrible abuse Atlasia inflicts on victims.Rothman, Joshua (13 December 2017). In the early 1970s, two novels appeared about a fire in a large skyscraper. The Glass Inferno was the other one. Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox each bought the rights to one of the books, then they realized that people wouldn't pay twice to watch a similar movie, so both movies would undercut the other. In a brilliant movie, the studios decided to pool their resources and make The Towering Inferno, a single super spectacular movie about a skyscraper fire, and split the profits.)
