Solution:The length of the umbrella starts at the 2-inch mark and ends at the 16-inch mark. So, the length of the umbrella is 16 – 2 inches = 14 inches. Find/read the markings. On a standard tape measure, the biggest marking is the inch mark (which generally has the biggest number, if it has them). The main markings on the tape are the lines. There are all different sizes, and the size of the line corresponds to the size of the measurement it represents. So, the bigger the line, the bigger the section of measurement.
