The sustain algorithm is an odd one. It can be configured as a sustainer or an infinite reverb. I think I have only used it in the sustainer mode and need to try it in infinite. As a sustainer it only sustains the notes as you play them and once you move to another chord or note it cuts out, this could just be user error, but it wasn’t something I explored further. Echo is more of a reverb with a bit of delay, which could be useful to make a sound even vaster. It’s again not an algorithm I’ve spent much time with. Over the past few years his company has built a strong reputation for their multi-mode digital effects, in particular for their lush reverb and delay pedals, receiving especially high marks for their shimmer reverbs. Hall– The lush, open sound of a concert hall, now with adjustable modulation depth for achieving deep modulated tones. Once you’ve managed to decode that array of lines and words wiggling down from the central mode control, you’ll find there are eight sounds on offer: four standard reverbs, two with ‘shimmer’, one with added echo (delay) and one intriguingly labelled ‘detune’. The bottom-right knob controls a different parameter depending on the mode, while the tone control doubles up as delay time when you’re in ‘reverb+echo’ mode.

I guess Neaunabers expanse and exp system (which I believe is now discontinued) catered for presets. Whereas the Immerse is more of s standalone multi reverb unit without the need for an additional footswitch to switch between algorithms CONTROLS Effect level, depth, tone, variable function control (depending on mode selected), eight-way mode switch: wet, hall, plate, spring, 2x shimmer, rev+echo, rev+detune; ‘kill dry’ and trails switches Other misc features are: Stereo in and out, Kill Dry Switch (externally accessible), Trails Switch (externally accessible). The Kill Dry is much more helpful than I anticipated. While it does have more practical uses for how you wire up your rig, I use it mainly to shape my reverb tone. The fact that this is external is brilliant. There are no favorite switches or taps and this will never plug into your PC for updates like their Expanse series. Spring – The distinctive twerp of a tube-driven spring reverb. Now with adjustable modulation speed, it can achieve a vibrato-spring sound. My pedalboard has recently had a bit of an overhaul. Firstly I altered the drive section quite substantially. Then I came across a Neunaber Immerse at a price I really couldn’t say no to. I had been looking at getting a Source Audio Collider to take care of reverb and delay, effectively reducing three pedals to one. Seeing the Immerse put a spanner in the works. I had played the MK1 and enjoyed it very much. The shimmer was excellent, a real standout. I couldn’t however find one at a price I was happy to pay. I then got my hands on the GFI Specular Reverb, which is also excellent and has an outstanding shimmer mode. The Specular did all of the ambient washy reverbs that I like and I had a Boss RV-6 for the more standard plate and spring that I used all of the time.Every part of the Immerse Reverberator has been carefully thought out and designed. From the software used to run it to the amazing quality of the dacs and even the dry analogue passthrough for zero latency. You will not believe what a step up this pedal is from most reverbs until you plug it in and hear how it sounds.

Shimmer– Reminiscent of a synth pad that follows what your instrument plays, this effect combines the best qualities of our previous shimmers. What of the other settings on the immerse? The other algorithms on offer consist of the usual spring, hall and plate then some more unusual offerings; sustain, echo, detune and shimmer. The plate hall and spring are exactly what you would expect if you have ever used any other reverb. They are excellent algorithms and I find myself if not using the W3T using the hall for a wide cavernous reverb. Echo is a blending type delay. You can control how much delay you want in your signal or how much reverb. It’s more of an either or while blending between the two. To be honest, the delay was frustrating at first because it sounded better than my other delay pedals. What a good problem to have though.Sustain– A new algorithm built on the W3T reverb. This magical, versatile effect can be configured as a sustainer or infinite reverb. The Immerse Mk II raises the bar with eight rich stereo reverbs in one easy to use pedal. No user manual required. Experience studio-quality tone that can be used with instruments of all stripes. As in the pedal’s previous incarnation, each mode can be tweaked through five knobs: Effect Selection, Mix, Depth, and two multi-function controls. In addition, external Kill Dry and Trails switches and stereo in/outs that can be used in mono or stereo contribute to make this stompbox also extremely flexible. Hall – The lush, open sound of a concert hall, now with adjustable modulation depth for achieving deep modulated tones. An absolute monster of a reverb. Will take you to places you've never played. I've played it for nearly 3 months and it has changed everything for me.

Sustain – A new algorithm built on the W3T reverb. This magical, versatile effect can be configured as a sustainer or infinite reverb. goede keuze van soort reverbs. Zeer goede kwaliteit van afwerking (klik draaiknop, voelt heel stevig aan). There are numerous tones on this standard size stomp box. Wet (a signature Neunaber tone), Hall, Plate, Spring, Shimmer (a), Shimmer (b), Reverb + Echo (delay), and Reverb + Detune (chorus like). All of these are top quality tones. I originally fell in love with Neunaber when a friend loaned me the Wet Stereo V2 and a Strymon Blue Sky. I played the Strymon for about a half hour and then I plugged in the Wet and played it for the rest of the weekend. I certainly think Strymon is top quality but Neunaber is really something special… something unlike anything else I’ve ever played. Shimmer – Reminiscent of a synth pad that follows what your instrument plays, this effect combines the best qualities of our previous shimmers. This week Neunaber unveiled a new version of their flagship multi-mode stereo reverb, the Immerse MkII, which features new circuitry, and upgraded algorithms that were fully redesigned from the ground up “they are certainly the best I’ve created to date” – says Brian.Detune is a very 80’s chorus-y vibe. Fortunately for me, I’m fine with that. A lot of people don’t care much for chorus but this is subtler than most. It is really more of the wet signal that is altered and your dry stays more intact than most chorus pedals which, to me, makes it more useful.
