The HD681 features an exceptionally deep low frequency. As for the sound image presented by these headphones, the HD681 gives you the feeling of actually being on stage with the artists.

I don’t know how Superlux can make these headphones at the price. The build quality is good but more importantly they sound great. I prefer these to my Grado SR80’s at a fraction of the price. An absolute bargain. Because I really dislike the one with the red rings I bought the one with silver rings, not realizing that it has a different sound. The 681's are very easy to drive, I don't feel the need to hook up my Fiio E05 or my Fiio E11. I'm getting plenty of volume, with room to spare, from the desktop. These headphones are an affordable option which deliver good sound and are comfortable to wear. I found the basic response to favour higher frequencies, but with some EQ tweaking a balanced sound is easily attainable. In noisy surroundings these headphones do not provide adequate isolation, so they would be more suited to applications in quiet environments.After these filters I had to upgrade "Rating" from 3 stars to 4 and half stars and "Audio Quality" till max. Tldr of the review is, best sounding cheap headphone money can buy, the hype is well justified. However if long wearing comfort and build quality is a priority then definitely spend a little extra. Moreover, the large, “cushiony” and leather (maybe leather) earpads supplement their excellent level of comfort offered with also a pivoting movement that adapts them better to your heads/ears shape. The headband’s clamping has a well-balanced pressure to provide a tight but not crushing fit and the single-sided robust cable reduces cumbersome cable-issues. They come with two pairs of pads, the faux leather ones that already come with the headphones aren't very good) I've mixed on these headphones for over 5 hours in a row with only mild discomfort.

My go to corded headphones. This is my second pair of Superlux HD681s. Bought my first 5 years ago and they are still working. Superlux and Artist Guitars for the win again offering Australian consumers incredible value for money. I also thought about the 668. they are a little bit more expensive but also have 56ohm impedance, which is a little bit more than 681. Will it have any effect on the integrated sound card on the MB, or maybe on the clip+? Great review! Had a white EVO and still burning in. Agree very much on your assessment of the bass department. Not bass head facourites certainly, but the amount EVO can output is satisfying for most I think! It's hard to fault this product on the basis of sound quality but what would have been great is if the over-ear sponges were made of better material. For this price we can't expect too much for a product that does it's job. By close up though, this headphone gives a fine detail to most of those pattern (though some imperfection of build is shown)

My Number" by British band Foals sounded overly compressed and splashy despite this actually being quite a punchy recording. In comparison, the Grado SR60i headphones sounded more natural, with less emphasis on the mushy hi-hat cymbals. EVO pleather pads seem to be a bit different to the originals and coupled with the new design of the headphone, they seem to be slightly more comfortable. I've had 3 pairs of these headphones, which is a testament to how good these sound and how badly their cable is designed.

I have been a presenter on community radio for over 20 years and I can honestly say these are the most comfortable headphones I have ever had. What a fabulous product at an unbelievable price. Hey, I just bought the HD681 B as a temporary replacement for my Grados and I would like some suggestions on some light EQ through Winamp (or some 3rd party EQ sofware if needed) as the sound is unbearable at higher frequencies.

The sound itself is wrapped on top of a big hearted bass. The bottom end is ramped up, very similar to the HD681 of old. However, the treble is less edgy so the headphone seems warmer and more bass focused. However, there is also a peak in the treble giving the top end a nice 'bite.' Pros: Spacious sound with good clarity, depth and punch making them ideal for gaming. Gorgeously musical. Ridiculous price.

The mids came out astoundingly clear for the price. Vocals are well done and crisp. Not too much I can say about this -- I found the mids to be very pleasing. Recommend for users love enjoy any genre musics indoor with simple way (not DJ style) and replace its ear pads (velour pads or others). I also bought 381 some time ago and from the moment i started listening to them i had a feeling of very high, sharp trebles, almost to the point that I had to adjust the volume everytime there were trebles or vocals. But i fixed it with an EQ, and its not a problem to do the same on PC. So ugly; not very dynamic and can compress some music; can sound shrill with bright material; open design means they don't work well in loud environments.
